I’m a truck driver and I think that is absolutely amazing I was looking for some good screens for my truck I’ll spend time in LA and it’s quite hot in the summer and there’s no idling allowed so I need to come up with something and you just solve my problem thank you so much

You're quite welcome. I used to have window vents for my truck and it was very useful because I didn't like to idle the engine either. If you don't feel like making these yourself, I know they have window screens available for the Freightliner Cascadia and the Volvos but I'm not sure where to get them or how much they cost.

Very nice job. One thing to fix the gap is to cut through the corrugated part. So the window glass slides between the two sides of the vent if that makes sense.
@VantasticPacifica
@VantasticPacifica 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I get it. That's not a bad idea. But I'm worried that might weaken the structure of the corrugated plastic leaving a couple of flaps dangling that get smashed if the window doesn't slide in between them perfectly or when I store it. But keep the ideas coming. Who knows what's possible.😊

Yeah that was an unscripted moment that I was going to edit out. But then I said screw it. Leave it in. Thanks for the weather stripping idea, but the problem happens when the door opens or closes. hi great idea, I've worked with that material b4 and its fun to work with....you can find it for free sometimes at convenience stores from signs &displays. To fix that gap at the bottom you could cut out 2 or 3 ribs leaving 2 long flaps and roll the glass up into the material:)
@VantasticPacifica
@VantasticPacifica 2 жыл бұрын
Ha! Yes, I considered that but I think it might make that edge a bit flimsy. It'll curl up and be hard to get the glass to fit right. So instead, I'm just gonna use a leftover strip about 2 inches and glue it to the bottom edge.😁
@chrisgraham2904
@chrisgraham2904 Жыл бұрын
Coroplast is also a popular material used for election signs. After election night, you pick up as much as you want. You'll just have to spray paint to get rid of the candidates message. A split foam tube, designed as insulation for for water pipes, could be applied to the bottom edge that meets the glass and eliminate any minor gaps.

Awesome! Thank you! I would also consider taking a look at recent model Caravans with the bench seat in the middle. They are very easy to remove and you still have the stow and go space under the floor. The only downside is you have to find a place to store your bench seat until you get back. Also the car doesn't have as many high-tech gadgets as the Pacifica but I promise you won't miss them and the car is considerably less expensive. Hey, didn't you used to have a KZbin video? Or am I thinking of a different Monna from New Jersey?

Great idea ! I unwittingly bought a Dodge Gr Caravan with sliding doors that have fixed (non-opening) windows. I travel solo, and I need a solution to exhaust the heat, other than running my AC nonstop. I talked to an RV dealer about installing a roof top vent with a fan, but the cost is prohibitive. I'd thought about a removeable fan for the front passenger window with an alternate battery, but the curve of the window poses a problem for a frame. I can cover the windows to reduce the heat coming in, but I really need a way to exhaust the hot air from the vehicle to make it more comfortable. I'd love to hear any ideas you have, or from your readers. Thank you ! 😓 😰 😅

Well done, and subscribed. I put tinted window shades in my Pacifica and when stealth overnighting I roll down the windows just enough so it’s not visible from outside. Those two or three mosquitos that might come in (after 1.5 years living in the car I have yet to be bothered by one) will get zapped by my bug lamp. I’m familiar with the Coroplast and may use it to make custom window covers. Thanks, and don’t lose your thinking cap.

the mosquitoe net is cool but most people get rain guards and just crack the windows. Probably easier to make a net over the window without the vents and the rain guard
@VantasticPacifica
@VantasticPacifica Жыл бұрын
True, it would be easier but what's the fun in that? Besides, this provides significantly more ventilation than just window guards. My goal was to not have to get up in the middle of the night to close the windows if it rains.

Great idea. I feel this could be pulled out too easily. Made in a light aluminium with a bottom lip to go over window edge would make me feel safer.
@VantasticPacifica
@VantasticPacifica 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's a great idea! This was only meant to keep out insects and light rain, not bad guys. But whatever material you use would have to be flexible enough so that you can bend it and fit it into place. Aluminum could work. And once it's in place, they would have to be able to roll down your window in order to remove it.

Great job! Could you design a rain deflector for my 2002 Honda Odyssey wing windows?
@VantasticPacifica
@VantasticPacifica Жыл бұрын
You could try pipe insulation. It's like a pool noodle but cheaper. Cut it to fit and stuff it in there around the top and side of the window and just leave the bottom open for ventilation. I've never tried this but seems like a good idea.😁
