I remember years ago, pots used to be made with the tyre still on the wheel, so the steel wheel was the base.

Yes I used to see those... much heavier and not as available to recycle. Remember the swan ones, too? They were more sculptural. Required fabric tyres I think, as the tread was cut?

Yes, just harder to find the rims on.. also with purely rubber they are nice and flexible, indestructible by running over etc...
