@@WhattoRepair not yet. This project is a few months out. I'm have some artistic abilities, but never done anything like this before. I've thought about making a video of it when I do. Any recommendations for how to do the road surface? Or the armco barriers? I also want to do an F1 grid for my F1 cars.

You can see in video how I make this "cement". This is plaster or gypsum. Here is the part where I'm mixing plaster with water. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4ipp51-oMiZfqc

Really nice job,how long would you say you had to spend making it?
@WhattoRepair Жыл бұрын
This is not complex diorama and I think it can be done for 5-6 hours if you know what you are doing and if you have some idea what to make. I'm not calculating time needed for drying, because when plaster, paint or glue dries i'm doing something else. You have several simple processes, preparing XPS foam for base, covering with plaster, carving rocks, painting, applying grass, making road and details... Each of those steps can be done in half hour. Shed is 3D printed, trees are also bought online. Of course, I spent with that diorama several days, because I' didnt had much experience in that moment, but today I think I could done that in 5 or 6 hours of effective work.

Plaster of paris or sculpt-a-mould would be better than gypsum, and give you greater freedom for shaping.

I'm using static grass for dioramas. Static grass are small synthetic fibers (nylon) meant to use with electrostatic grass aplicator.

Im curious do u filters for hot wheel photos?
@WhattoRepair2 жыл бұрын
No, I don't use any filters. Colors are natural, I only adjust exposure of photos. Photos are taken in raw format and after that in Adobe Lightroom I adjust too dark and too bright spots so I get balanced photos. If diorama is outdoor scene I always take photos on real sunlight so colors are natural.

Which type of paint you use in 10:25 Can we use poster colours?
@WhattoRepair2 жыл бұрын
First I'm using regular acrylic primer for wall paint and after that I'm using cheap brown acrylic paint. I was using primer only because dry plaster can absorb lot of paint, so with primer you can save paint. You can use any color on plaster, it will look good after painting. Poster color will look better than watercolor or pastel. But poster color is washable, it can be dissolved in water and it's not considered as something that will last. Acrylic paint is the best solution if you want your work lasts longer. Acrylics are very cheap, available almost everywhere, they are non toxic and very stable after drying.

Q.1What is length and width of this diorama? Q.2Can we use sand instead of zeolite
@WhattoRepair2 жыл бұрын
Diorama base is 40x30 cm. You can use anything you want instead of zeolite, but I would not recommend only sand because it is too large to look realistic. You need something finer. You can sieve dry dirt from garden or somewhere else. I used zeolite because its fine enough to look realistic and I wanted that yellowish tone of zeolite because some gravel/dirt roads have that color.

My grand father said with dioramas instead of using styrofoam just use card board
@WhattoRepair2 жыл бұрын
I think there are lot of problems that can happen with cardboard. Cardboard is not thick enough and it doesn't have strenght. You can bend and deform it easily. I'm using XPS foam, this is not styrofoam. XPS foam is much stronger than styrofoam. Second big problem with cardboard is that moisture from plaster will soak it and it will fall apart. Using plaster is easiest and cheapest way to make terrain and you must use water to prepare plaster. So you need base for plaster that is waterproof. XPS foam is cheap, strong, waterproof, it has small weight and you can cut and shape it easily...
@MrSamirsaka053 жыл бұрын
Where did u get that foam
@WhattoRepair3 жыл бұрын
If you think on pink foam that I'm using for base, its polystyrene. It is mostly used for insulation in homes, so you can buy it in hardware stores and other similar stores.

@@WhattoRepair can we use Styrofoam
@WhattoRepair2 жыл бұрын
@@shahbazarif7485 I don't recommend styrofoam because it has less strenght than polystyrene (XPS foam). But you can try. You will probably need thicker layer of plaster and maybe some mesh to use as armature, because styrofoam can easily bend so plaster must have more strenght.

why not use glue gun to spread glue??
@WhattoRepair9 ай бұрын
As I wrote in subtitle, glue gun is too slow. It takes some time for gun to melt glue, you can squeeze small amount of glue with gun but then you must wait some time for the rest of glue stick to melt. You need about two entire sticks to glue that surface, and you can imagine how much time it takes to melt two sticks with gun. Glue that came out of gun in the start would harden when gun finish melting last amount of glue. So I used something that can melt larger amount of glue in very short time. But hot glue is not practical, I don't use it anymore for this purpose. Polyurethane glue is much better.
