I love that the edwardian solution to boobs was apparently “build them a shelf to sit on” lol!! That’s what the big underbust boning arc makes me think of lol!! This is the single most sturdy looking garment I’ve ever seen! Well done! That is an incredible amount of work on so many thick layers wow!

Incredibly fine detailing. When you made that leather trim so narrow I made a squee whisper noise. It's exquisite. Thank you for crafting and documenting with such detail.

I am SO GLAD I found this video! I’m making my second pair of stays, and your method for attaching the binding looks much easier and neater than what I was about to attempt. Gorgeous work!

These look amazing!!! I'm binding mine in leather now, and didn't even think about whipstitching it instead of backstitching like normal binding. Not gonna undo mine coz it took all day for just the top of one half, but I'm definitely doing your method around the tabs. Thank you so much for making such a detailed video!

I am so looking forward to the stays part of my project, but I am a bit nervous, the only stays I have made were from a pattern and were not altered to fit an individual. It will be a whole new thing to do fittings on it and things!

Hi! Just curious where you got the thicker bones that add support around the bust, or at least, what their dimensions are? I can't seem to find any that would work for this purpose and would appreciate a lead! Thank you in advance

I was wondering if these were just a bigger/thicker size of plastic boning? Ie, the same material as what the maker was already using in the rest of the stays but a bigger size by a couple of millimetres.

Pls those brown pieces u hand sewed at the down part immediately before u whip stitched all the curved bottom pieces.... pls what are that for... also the one u stitched in the stomach area... what was it for
@clockwork_faerie

For holding those areas rigid, so they don't flex or stretch. (It's part of the shaping, without those it will flex back out at those areas and make a softer, 1790s shape.)

Pls the stitches u were making with the thread and needle.. pls can I sew the seams with machine or it should strictly be with thread n needle
@clockwork_faerie

Hello! Well the straight channel stitches you can do by machine. But the whip stitch over the edges is not possible with a machine. (I'd definitely want that machine if there was one haha).

I am trying to make similar stays but i am struggling with the waist becaus i just dont know how to sinch in the waist and were. Does someone have an idea ?
@alicine-sims8988
@alicine-sims8988 3 жыл бұрын
I know that the waist is supposed to be right above the tabs if that's what you're asking? Like the tabs are supposed to flair out from your natural waist, so the bottom of the pattern is basically where the waistline is.
