Ya know... I like that you say "how I..." do this thing rather than "this is the way to...." do this thing. Always being sure to remind the viewer that there's more than one way to do the thing. ☺️

Oh hear me out! I have been looking at a tool belt side pouch thing for sewing tools. I’ve tried aprons and I worked too long at Home Depot. I’m thinking of using this as a stepping stone to make one. Hmmm ……. Thanks for always being my inspiration.

I had to make cargo pockets and sew them on a pair of men's shorts. It wasn't easy to get them sewed on in the correct places. You did a great job.

I must admit that if I watch all of your videos it's mostly dreaming and learning things I will probably never use (and I say that in the best way possible). But this will definitly be useful as it's something I plan to make soon : I'm the type of person who can't live without his (numerous) pockets 😅 Making it a separate video is a really good idea, on top of spaceing things out for you to put out and us to see, it will be way easier to find for those trying to find this specific topic 😊

There are times when I am working on a project and my purse has to be put away so people wandering thru the building don't find it. On my person I like to keep tissues and Benadryl for allergies. I also want my phone, a small note book for notes & drawings, and a little "walkin' 'round" money. Pockets!! A Good Thing! Most Excellent Presentation! I will earmark this for a work apron. Has anyone told you lately that you are marvelous? Well. . .You are!

I love that pocket style, and have gotten Ideas about where to use some. Specifically with a pencil skirt, which I typically don't wear, but I think I've figured out how to make it work on me! With big-ass pocketses to substitute for hips!! With a nice chonky fabric, in a plaid-my-mom-hates! I made a gardening apron recently, no bib like the Home Depot aprons, it's kind of a half-skirt of many pockets. I took a whole selvedge to selvedge width of fabric as long as I wanted it to hang (not long enough to kneel on), plus as deep as I wanted the pckets to be, box pleated up the top into a waist tie such that I could still access my pants pockets. I fit two shovelfuls of tubers in it last week and this week it held two water bottles, two packages of onion bulbs, a bag of hose repair stuff, the hose repair tools, a bunch of seeds, and a handful of plant tags and sharpies. I might add one of these pockets in the centre for my phone or something, because somehow, there's still never enough pockets.

Very nice. I've been using my self drafted (at a course a couple of years ago) pencil skirt pattern recently on leftover fabrics from various costumes and realised that i should/could be adding back patch pockets to them - I have yet to work out even placement though.

Explanation of what you were doing was great.made perfect sense and the pocket is so much nicer than typical patch pockets. Nice bit of tailoring.hugs

Of course it would be easier to add the pocket before the skirt was sewn, but somehow it seems natural for you to take the more circumbendibus route. Thanks for a great tutorial!

There's a great trick for turning out pointy corners. Involves tucking a scrap of thread into the seam stitching in such a way that it hangs out the right/outside, then you just pull the thread tails and bam perfect flat corner. The scrap thread then just pulls out. I have to look it up every time, since I don't do it often enough, but this would be so helpful on this pocket flap

This video is so detailed on the pocket, very useful. Could you please make other videos to reference the how to, like zips and how to match seam lines, just shorter and more easy to find. ❤

That was great I've never thought of making pockets this way. Which is weird as I usually sew for kids. Now I'm of two minds they would look great but how much more could they get into them? They have taken to walking random shorelines looking for cool rocks.

Your comments about putting the pocket on while the skirt pieces are still flat made me wonder why you don't install your zippers while the back is still flat. Is there a specific reason? I'm looking forward to the entire skirt video, I love the way it looks so far,

She's making a POCKET?! Whoa! Has she finally realized how wonderful they are? "...Alexander McQueen..." Nope. Still the same B. 😂 Those pleats might be useful for me though. I don't like the look much... but with the right proportions it might solve the "getting phone out of pocket" thing... while still letting me keep the pocket pretty small. Handy!
@karengoldie68015 ай бұрын
If you were planning to use the pocket, would you stitch the top edge before attaching it to the skirt?
@rachelvancamp69825 ай бұрын
So I made a self-designed jumper with a gathered skirt and realized I forgot the exterior pockets. Thing is I dislike pockets because my hands and fingers are always getting caught on them. I decided to throw caution to the wind and without asking permission sewed them on not flat but right over the gathers so they would be much flatter against the garment. So far no one has sued me or even noticed. Bianca, am I alone in doing this?
