You do good work young man and I wish you the very best. I’m an old panel beater that restored some of the world’s rarest cars. They would ship what they had to us in Melbourne Australia and we had to work out the rest. In a lot of cases we made cars from photographs. All we had was an Oxy, a wheel, a roller, and a swagging machine. The rest of the machinery was a tree stump and a leather bag with sand in it. I just saw one of the cars I restored the other day went for $24million. I struggled to afford lunch building it. Hahahaha.
@Resurrected_metalshaping10 ай бұрын
That’s the case a lot of the time in this trade. Building a lot of amazing cars and not making a lot of $ keeping that passion is the most important thing. I love hearing from people who have restored cars. And thank you for tuning in on the videos.

When i was an apprentice back in late 70s the old guys then were the last that had done this as a normal thing, we learnt this technique at tech school but it wasn't something we did at work as replacement panels were readily available, making patch panels was about it, good to see some resurgence of old methods

Nice work. While you call it relatively simple, it is still too hard for most people. Learning to do a door skin does look to be one of the easier ones to learn and it probably covers most of the basics of metal shaping. Wheel, shrinking, stretching, bending, hammer & dolly etc. Great videos. Keep it up.

I am probably telling you to suck eggs as i dont do body work besides on my own cars but do you know about polymorph Its a low temp 75c thermo plastic i have been playing with it useing it to make plastic dollys for straightening stainless steel trims I mix it in a cup with boiling water once its hot its like a mixture of clay and caramel i pour or form it over the section i want to recreate it makes a perfect mould/dolly and once it sets it as hard as a nylon or deralin block I don't have a pullmax or any profiling machinery but i image it would work perfectly for this process
