Just found this video. My question is what if you are using a continuous pattern such as a belt? In other words, how would you match the ending of one tap-off with the start of the next tap-off?

The tap off leaves a raised pattern on the letter to be carved. How do you keep the swivel knife from skipping around the raised line? Do you carve on one side or the other?

I tried one tap off so far, and got some pretty good stretch from the piece I was transferring too. Maybe tape the back before you transfer.

Is there a reason for putting your petals down first before your flower? Others say put your flower down first and fill your circle to that or is it a personal thing? Great video thanks.

John Bacon if you draw your stems first you end up with a more consistent stem width and evenly spaced elements.
