Great video! I was making AND wearing these DIY pants in the late 60's and early 70's in San Francisco Bay area. They are fun to make and wear!!

This is Exactly where my influence comes from for this work. Even though we all know "hippie" generally, it's so cool that these styles are a unique art form from this region, developed out of the resurgence of crafting and DIY (not called that then) that happened in that time in that place. And that kept going and evolving in NorCal as I grew up in the 70s and 80s. The Grateful Dead are largely responsible for keeping the dream alive up to the present. Every pair of pants I make reminds people of that time and that dream and connects younger people to it. A dream of Peace & Love, a truly worthy goal🌹

I had the first pant with flower print triangle add in patches on the outside to make bell bottoms pants that I ever saw back in 1970. Miss your dreds Julia, Blu

I have black jeans that are too small on me since I gained about 30 lbs., and I am thinking that is a great way to make them bigger so I can still wear them. Increase an inch or 2 on either side and stick in a small piece of elastic where the band is so it can give or take as I need it. Thank you for the great idea! The brain is thinking! Lol!

Yeah definitely not taking someone’s idea -who knows how many people come to the same similar ideas all executed a bit differently and that makes it unique. I love these patchwork bell bottoms -super cool and gorgeously unique.

would you measure the circumfrence of the knee area, then cut the strips of fabric in a way that would equal that circumfrence so that when you go to sew it to the knee there is no gathering? I hope that makes sense

Hi. That is basically what I do. There is no gathering.

im lovin your style and creativity. unique, like myself.i bet we would get along great. .....i find that clothing at the stores are very boring and i like my clothes to match my style.....my only problem is that i dont know how to operate a sewing machine although i have a nice solid vintage machine that i inherited from another unique lady that was a pro with it. unfortunately she came into my life only a couple years before she passed and we never got the chance to share her knowledge. never thought she would go so soon. anyway..........do you have any advice for me please? how do i go about learning to use the machine? is it the sort of thing i will have to take a class for, or pay someone to teach me? or can it be learned by reading books, watching videos, tutorials? its weird, im an artist, i make jewelry and tie dye to sell and everything creative ive ever done has come natural to me almost like ive done it before and only needed to jog my memory and in no time i was creating amazing things, but with this im totally lost and it seems very very difficult and im kind of intimidated with the thought of it seeming so beyond hard to do. what advice could you give me please? thank you for sharing your creativity to others. i just found you and i have a feeling you have a lot of good videos, i cant wait to see. thanks again! my email is 7rubytuesday7@gmail.com if you need. (it was my email before they named a restaurant after my favorite dang song. grrrrr) haha have a great day beautiful lady
@Uncivilize2 жыл бұрын
I just want to suggest that you edit your comment to take your email out. Sewing is not hard. The trick is to learn how to thread your machine. Then it's just back and forth and side to side, like dancing. I suggest you start on a simple machine like your old one (I'm assuming it's simple) or a basic Walmart one. Outside of that, I suggest KZbin. Yes you can find what you need to know! Then if it still feels trying, let it go❤️
