So mark, I'm creating a comic just for fun and I wanted to do it in a classic comic style, but the problem was I had issues with consistency. So I tried again in a manga style, and although It was going much better the style I was using was just so generic and honestly I'm not a big manga fan. I found myself not enjoying what I drew. I was at a loss. Then I started watching your channel about 6 months ago. Watching you draw such a wide array of styles manga or no really inspired me. For the holidays I purchased both your Mastering Manga Books and all your current Brodi's Ghost comics. When I looked through the books I realised just how stylised something as "simple" as manga could be! It's because of what you do and what you show that made me buckle down and develop a style personalised for me. Thanks to you this comic will be the best I can make it, and that was the best I could of ever wanted. Thank you so much Mark. Keep doing what your doing, because you make the best of differences even if they're seemingly insignificant.

This was sooo interesting! I love it! I love it! I like the first part where it was like you were writing a play, Crilley. (my favourite form of literature by the way) With the stage directions and everything. And like Shakespeare, you created characters. But the best part? You get to give the role to the perfect actor, because you created him/her. Then how to incorporate the panelling and drawing with the script to ensure the best telling of the story... You're a genius, Crilley! A GENIUS, I TELL YOU! (breathing heavily) I want more! I totally already purchased both how-to-draw books recently (after much saving, spending and saving again) but now I'm definitely saving for your actual works =3 This is coming all the way from Jamaica. I'm a big fan! (And I'm not the type to genuinely fawn over celebrities). Keep it up!

That city view tutorial wouldn't be too bad an idea. I mean sure you can do city sights if you can draw a building in perspective but it's a whole different matter to get that interesting silhouette down, buildings overlapping and maybe changing the vanishing point with different buildings etc etc. Not to mention, some sort of shorthand for architectural elements so that there's more there than just cubes. Hey Mark, I had a question that didnt get answered in the Q and A, that im still very curious about. How do you stay so consistent when drawing a complex character or object?
@DigiMyst10 жыл бұрын
I hope my comment doesn't deter any possible comments from Mark, but it's all about repetition, getting familiar with your character before you delve into the comic-book making. Break down body parts and facial features, then analyze how they work in the overall character, positioning him/her in multiple directions. Guidelines are especially helpful, since they keep the proportions of your character in check. I'd recommend checking out the concept art of Tangled, since that paints a vivid picture of what you'd have to do.

This was a very helpful video and i look forward to the next one. Personally i would like to see even more videos about the comic book making process but i am even more interested in the idea of a video about drawing a cityscape because that is especially difficult for me, thanks for making these videos Mark!

Not sure if you're a Godzilla fan. But with the new film coming out soon it would be cool if you did a video drawing Godzilla in any style that you prefer.

When I lay out my panels I found something that can help with leading the eye through the panel. I read in a how to draw graphic novel is the "Z" method. The events down the page (including dialogue) will be in that shape to help the reader easily read through the page. That method helps BIG time when laying out pages.

What made you say that- did you try to make a comic and did you compare your work with his, finally. Maybe you're a better artist and invest your time on creating realism. But crilley is so cool- just because he's a published author and artist. Your work will take time to find some kind of recognition, maybe you're only copying your inspiration at the best, his works have got a lot of technicality , allthis makes him our loved artist. So please refrain from saying such things, please i request you. We need to show him love as much as possible for us, that's how i know we can keep him motivated. Thanks

How can you draw cities so easily, Mark? I find it so difficult, and I'm an experienced drawer myself, but I can't find a good city tutorial out there that doesn't make it look like a cheap mess. EDIT: Those poor mountain men! Mark, you left them to DIE! They're probably long dead by now... XD
