I just though I would mention, I’m a KZbin premium member so I don’t see ads. But part of my monthly membership fee is shared with content creators. Just wanted to mention it for people who don’t like watching ads. 🙂

I’ve wondered about this, and have been curious if creators make around the same amount from Premium members.

I never realized that ads were important for You tubers! I also am paying for premium to skip ads. Do I need to review my account to confirm part of my monthly fee is shared with these content creators? Or is it automatic? I feel bad because I watch Chantelle all of the time but this is the first video where Anyone has shared this info!

Thank you, Chantal (geez, I just realized I don't know how you spell your beautiful name). I almost didn't watch, at least right now, as I had given up on doing YT or other income-producing work. I'm on Social Security and spent 9 years being an entrepreneur after retirement, only to be punished by owing IRS big bucks. I just finished the payment plan for my 2017 taxes! I was going to be ft vanlife beginning Apr 1 out of financial necessity. But an angel has helped me to stay in my rented senior living duplex to end of year. Since i wasn't going to be living in my van (already built out), I was no longer interested in having YT channel. See my tunnel vision? You have inspired me to rethink EVERYTHING about my current life. I'm excited again about positive change. The detail you explained was so instructive. Glad to hear from someone at your level rather than those who make $100k and up. Not that I'm going to rush into YT channel, but considering your suggestions for passive income stacking has me thinking and considering all my options. We all learn from our own mistakes, sometimes from seeing others' mistakes, or by learning from sources we trust and respect. There is about 50 years difference in our ages, but you are teaching an old dog new tricks! 💗 to you sweet lady!

This is actually reallly good to know... I often skip around in videos and didn't realize "watch minutes" matter, so I plan on changing that behavior for people I want to directly support. I don't know why people are so secretive about the idea of YT earning them money... I certainly would NOT want to spend the time to edit and produce these videos, market myself, and do "the hussle." Thank you for the super informative video. The only comment I have is about the affiliate deals like Jackery’s. They approached you and gave you an expensive item in exchange for a video. It’s hard to trust any video that a creator’s given about it because who would do a negative review if someone gave you a $1,000 item for free.

Chantelle, it’s so sweet of you to share this info. I have a lot more knowledge than I actually put to use on my channel, because I’m overwhelmed with retiring, getting Medicare, trying to get out of my house so I can sell it, and hit the road once again. And I really lack on video editing skills and no time to learn right now. I’ve been following many who teach this info. I’ve noticed in the van life community that no one shares information like you’re doing, and very, very few collaborate. I’ve been planning to share helpful information for a long time now, but I don’t know how to upload a certain things into my videos on my phone. So, I never do it. I’ve always wondered what to expect for the CPM in van life. I do all I can to help my fellow van lifers. I watched tons of their videos, even when I really don’t have time. And it’s rare that I do not hit the like button. And I often comment to create engagement. I’m really happy for you and how well you’re doing. I remember when you only had a few thousand subscribers. I hope to meet you on the road in the future.Oh, I follow Catherine and Sean, Benji, Roberto, Nick, Dee, Daniel, Brian,Derral, and many more. PS when you show the screen and don’t say what’s on it, I don’t know what it says, when you left off the two months of information. As you probably know by analytics that the majority of people on KZbin use the phone and we can’t see tiny stuff. Hey one thing you didn’t mention which of these do you use? VidIQ, morning fame, or tube buddy?

I so appreciate your openness and candor. Sharing screenshots of your actual numbers was amazing and brave. I think other videos showing more about how you set up and support your Etsy shop and other income stacking details would be great once in a while. Plus the nuts and bolts about how you set up and manage your business on the road, such as biz type, how you handle mail, taxes (so people can avoid the issues Michelle mentioned in her comment 🙄), etc would be so helpful (and watched!!). I think those biz basics details are often overlooked in the digital nomad space.

Great video. Thank you for outlining the basics of you tube monetizing. It's an important topic for people that use and like you tube and want to start supplementing their income from a regular job and put it towards a goal - like part time funding of van life. I watch your videos and am inspired to take mini trips to great outdoors on time off from my job and my sticks and bricks home and bring new dog. You give coordinates and great visual and verbal descriptions of places you go too and show how dog friendly they are. Keep it up and have a blast and thank you for sharing so much. As a full time nurse getting out and about in nature every other month has greatly improved my life. Thanks for the inspirations.

I've subscribed to channels that speak only to channel growth, but I consistently scroll past their notifications. It's kind of like not reading the package directions before attempting to put together a complicated, multilevel system of shelving. Most directions are not at all user-friendly. Switching my brain energy from the completed image pictured on the package and in my mind, to the one-dimensional constructs on paper, is HARD. But my experience is such that not taking the time to perform this step has often made the process of building any given object or subject way longer than it would otherwise have been. SO GLAD THAT I DIDN'T scroll past this instructional video. I thought about it but didn't. I gave some thought as to why I didn't. Here is what I came up with: I'm comfortable with your face, your voice, your form of communication - and this subject is part of your journey, and your "Basic Journey" interests me. You are not "one-dimensional". It makes "reading the directions" way easier. Now, I will take a look at those other channels. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Very informative & well done.👍 I've heard for a long time that the YT vloggers income info is available if one is curious & wanted to find out... I'm NOT curious about other people's money. But I applaud you for your transparency & well produced explanation of how it all breaks down. I've subscribed & UNsubscribed to numerous vloggers in the last year due to what comes across as either begging, manipulation or some level of usury. Then once they get the subscriber count & monetization they become rude, haughty, dismissive & invisible to the same viewers that got them where they are. They go from almost desperately begging people to "...like, subscribe, comment & press the thumbs up...". Then it goes to donste through CashApp, Patreon & buying merch or "joining memberships" in order to further increase their revenue. As I said, I only watch (& definitely not) or follow 2-3 nowadays; but of the MANY that I have watched, you are the only one that I've heard to donate a portion of your proceeds to a worthy cause & not just their own personal gain. I'm not saying others don't... I'm just saying I haven't seen anybody else do it. Kudo's to you young lady & should I contribute to ANYONE'S Patreon, it would be you (& Bob). Thanks for showing honest & integrity which is rarely witnessed lately in a venue of usury & greed.

This video is so helpful. I have heard people talk about making money on KZbin, but since they don't give numbers, I had no idea if say, someone who is newly monetized could expect to make $2, $20 or $2000 a month. Thanks for giving some actual numbers. Now at least I have some perspective. I have put videos on YT for years, randomly, but just last summer have tried to focus in and grow my channel. Still, only 33 subs! I have been discouraged because I put SO much time into it and have for 8 or 9 months now. Maybe it just will take time? However, I do enjoy it a lot so maybe it will just be a creative outlet for me and a way to document my life. (It's camping and hiking, all things nature). Anyways, thanks again for the REAL and useful video. I hope a lot of people find it and watch it. Hi Joey!!
