Wow, photoshop has advanced since last I used it (CS 2). It has animation with timelines now? The only thing I could do back in the day was make animated gifs by using layers as frames :P

Awesome video Anna! But do you know in the actual animation how did you get the logo to change with the colours? Did you just copy around them again with your graphic tab just using each creators colours?

Hey! thanks Grant :) I exported the animation as a video from photoshop with no background and then imported it into premiere. I duplicated it twice, changed the colors and moved them in the timeline, so one starts first, the other comes after it, on top and so on. Hope I'm making sense! ;) -A

I prefer doing animations on flash and after effects, but this is a cool way to do it, and you dont have to add a displacement map to give that handmade effect. Thank you for this:)

yess! I thought the same! :) it's a bit more time consuming than after effects, I think, cause you have to draw each frame, but it has a really nice look to it! thanks for watching! -A

Hi Ana :) loved the video.. thanks!! .. I have some questions, so I see you draw a little bit more of the complete image when you advance one frame etc, ... right? but every time i draw and advance frame i loose what i did at the previous one, is this normal? (sorry im a slow learner).. my questions are: 1. What timeline frame rate are you using?. 2. Which keyboard shortcut you use to move between frames? I did it but something is wrong with my computer i guess, it never renders .. just keeps loading and loading :( .. haha Thanks again, you rock :3

hey Ana! thanks so much! hm that's weird... let's see! so I'm using either 24 or 30 for the frame rate - can't remember exactly, sorry! as for moving between frames I just move the slider in the timeline panel one frame forward haha. if I find out a shortcut for that I'll let you know! now, what version of photoshop are you using? are you drawing on a video layer (blue) or image layer (purple)? that might be it! anyway, hope it helps! good luck! xx -A

I know this is a bit late but I figured it out since I was having the same problem! The little dropdown button on the top right of the timeline has an option to turn that on! You just click it and go down to the option "enable onion skins" and that fixes it ^^

Very useful video. I want to start a DIY channel and at the beginning of each video, I want to draw an animation of the thing I'm making. I want it to be quite quick and basic, so if I'm making a picture frame, I want to draw and display the measurements etc and then move into the video. I'm hoping it'll be quite affective, but I've never used Photoshop for animation before. x
