We're inside the glass studio in this week's Behind the Scenes video.
Our favorite glass tools here:
Check out this page from artyrvglassstudio www.amazon.com/shop/artyrvgla...
We are currently engaged in creating various stained glass projects, including stained glass windows. Our focus this week is on the techniques of soldering and cutting textured glass. We also have a special segment planned, which demonstrates how to flip a large stained glass window. Throughout the process, from unboxing the stained glass to soldering a stained glass window, we will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the stained glass studio. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below or join us weekly at 7 PM EST on the ARTyRV Glass Studio channel on KZbin for a Q&A, Glass Chat, and Glass Demo.
Thanks for visiting our website and shopping in our Amazon Store. We sell products to help support the ArtyRV GLASS STUDIO. We look forward to bringing you fresh content every week!
Cheers!

Lead came vs foil. I recently began stained glass and tried foil, but now I wonder if I should try the lead came method. Is there a significant difference in cutting the pieces?

I am now inspired to do a window with came using some purple cathedral that keeps floating up in my vision. Grateful for all the tips, these videos are really valuable and will be appreciated for years to come by many. Looking forward to seeing the images of the Oak Project when it is installed. The actual serious mistakes I have made in glass have been in color. If you could touch on this it may help others. I twice have used a wrong blue and they were not even for a picture, just a stylized design. The first time just made the window seem sad as it was a sky color. It was a pretty blue but seen against the natural sky I realized it was a sad sky color. Another time it was an imitation German glass turquoise that I thought would be pretty with some bevels and off white opalescent in a small transom window. It too was sad. I do set my glass in a window and look at it for days in different light but as a person who does not have much experience viewing actual windows it's a little daunting knowing one wrong color will throw my dream out the window. Short of copying someone else's color scheme in a situation with some complexity it's a bit of a crap shoot. So I guess I'll play it safe with my purple cathedral window. I'll use some bevels and maybe clear with texture/iridescent. I just want purple. I know I don't want any amber near it. I just made three panels with a stylized tulip design and they are understated and have a lot of amber going on. They are pretty but no wonder I want purple after that. Why did people so often put purple and amber together in windows back in the day? For heavens sake! Lol!

You have what I call color anxiety. Don’t worry . Color theory is a learned practice and there is a ton of info out there to help you. The best place to start is by looking and studying the colors of windows you really like. Then you can work those same colors into your design. Also take a look at the colors designers are using in fabric colors . This will give you ideas as well. My father-in-law used to say every color goes together. And in the words of Dale Chihuly “I never met a color I didn’t like!” Have fun and enjoy!

Thanks. With panels that fit into an existing glass window do you make the borders a bit smaller? I am imagining finishing the project and finding the panel is a little too big and doesn't go in. How do you measure exactly?
@StGammon77
@StGammon77 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't done any pieces yet and I envision having to fit the lead into the window frame first and working inside that? Sorry if it's a dumb question.
@ARTyRV
@ARTyRV 2 жыл бұрын
Careful measuring and patterns if needed. We come in 1/8 inch from that. The windows have an h-lead border that can be easily trimmed on -site when installed if needed. Great question. Thanks for watching!
