Today I wanted to sit down and talk all about how we (or I lol) manage our money. From what we do on payday, all our different bank accounts and also how we share our finances. If you guys have any questions about anything or want to see any other more indepth videos let me know! BIG LOVE 🥰 (also pls excuse the fluffy hair 😭 this is why I don't film right after washing it)

PLEASE have a separate savings account each! You never know what could happen and you don't want to either end up in a difficult situation. You should each have access to a few month's living expenses if possible

We love this content! I find it so interesting how other people combine finances / or don’t. I think you guys deffo done the right thing to combine when you got engaged. We did it a few months before we got married and we wished we had done it sooner as it made life so much easier and I feel like it would of been easier when we were planning the wedding instead of constantly having to ask for his half towards 😂

thank you! 🥰 it's such a personal choice for every couple but I honestly could not be bothered asking for half every time we booked a vendor 😂 too many!!

Super interesting about combining as soon as you got engaged. My boyfriend and I are actually having this conversation right now. He wants to go ahead and combine once he pops the questions

Love this, Ella! Thanks for the transparency. I've been really getting into finance and budgeting and home loans now that I realised I should start saving now so I can buy a house in like 4 years time XD Totally agree, we are very lucky in SA with lower cost of living. House prices still cray though but at least its not like Sydney ...

I love this! And there is nothing wrong with Sharing finances. :) My husband and I staring doing that when we were engaged. I guess certain circumstances could make it different, but we totally trust each other. Idk why it's weird to share money with your spouse to people, it should be normal!!🙂

I agree! My partner and I (not married but living together for basically the whole relationship lol) started a joint account 3 months in to our relationship because we just felt it made sense.. we've been together for 6 years now.. still with a joint account... we both have access to all the money/accounts.. no problems for us and it's been great :) If it works for you then do you :)

Curious to understand what happens if you guys have separate money goals? For example what if you wanted to a Dyson air wrap lol. How do you go about talking about this and where does it go? 🙂
@smileycitrus
@smileycitrus 2 жыл бұрын
that's a great question! We both aren't huge spenders so are values and habits kind of naturally align. We're also very much of the mindset of "what's mine is yours." Any bigger purchases we touch base with each other about but otherwise go with the flow. A great alternative is to have seperate accounts for short term savings goals so you can both spend freely without consulting the other

Hey Ella, love this video, just wondering though how come you don’t set up transfers from your main bank account so you don’t have to do it manually each payday? 😆

What can use for a long term savings goal that I can collect interest that isn’t a CD or MM, those have really terrible percentages right now but I also don’t want to put it into my Roth, then not be able to use it when I need it. Thinking long term like house

One other account you need to have is a share investing account when I was your age My wife and I already had BHP and ANZ shares. Now that i am almost ready to retire I have 15 years of income before I start using my super. The shares over the years help buy 2 cars and our 2nd house also
