How I Mix All For Reef Powdered version

Once again not an earth shattering video ... just a quick video on how I mix up the All-For-Reef powdered version. The magnetic stirrer make very quick and easy work!!

It shoul be mixed with 900ml of water and you end up with 1000 ml of solution 😊 nice stirrer 😊

Hey Mick, just read the instructions and it says to mix 6 level spoons with 1 litre of RODI water?

@@My525XLRedSeaReefer hi, you're right it does say that on the tub but it's incorrect, lou ekus from tropic marin said it should be 900ml after someone queried the 1 litre amount on reef 2 reef, I've just had a look on the tropic marin website about mixing afr and that says 900ml as well, there's a youtube video by someone called practical reefer called are you mixing all for reef wrong ? Which goes into more deatail, I recently upgraded to a bigger tank from a nano and i was using the ready mixed bottles which i have a couple of left before i start mixing my own and so I've been watching and reading everything about mixing afr before i start doing it, i don't believe there's any harm in using 1 litre as 99.9% of people doing it have had great success 😊

I was confused as I just bought the All For Reef for the first time yesterday and was gonna mix it up today till I read the paper instructions which says to mix 6 level scoops in 900ml of RO water and on the container instructions label it reads mix 6 level scoops in 1L of RO water.

Just ordered all for reef recently too. I used ESV Bionic prior. Great video! How long does that 1000ml solution usually last you?

I dose 25ml a day so I get about 35-40 days out of 1000 ml mix

Great video, how is your consumption? Does your tank consume all 3 major elements in exact amounts? Or how do you dose if one falls amd one still in check

Thank you! Consumption was is fairly even. I wouldn't say it always in exact amounts but well within reason.I have not had to dose anything else but potassium.

Hi there! Thank you for your note! I am a big supporter of All-For-Reef. I have not stopped dosing it since I started. Once my levels became stable the Zoa's and all other corals started to get some great growth! I will continue to use it. Hope this helps!

I just started using all for reef and not sure if I like it. My container is 2 Liters so they call for 'approximately' 6 level measuing spoons per Liter (6 per 900ML) so I use 12 for 2 liters. I find even after hours of running a mixer that it settles into almost a milky substance which I'm concerned is clogging my doser.

Hi Bill, I was prepping 2L at point as well but found it does not get consumed fast enough and was getting the build up you described. I now only mix 1L at a time and do not have that issue. I use the mixer in the video but I let it run for 30 minutes or so. I am also using lukewarm water when mixing. I add 6 level spoons of the mix per liter of water (not 900 ml). This seems to be working for me since I reduced the prep amount to 1 liter instead of 2. Try this and let me know if it works for you.

Thanks so much--Ironically I had the same thought so yesterday I ordered just a 1 liter container which will be delivered today. I also thought about using warm water in the future so it's good hearing that from you. Thanks--I'll keep you posted. Bill

@@billybilly3333333333 good stuff! I am dosing AFR on my Seahorse tank as well (5ml/day) and I noticed some build up on the end of the dosing tube that drips into the tank. I might end up submerging the tube into the water to avoid that.. I will keep an eye on it to see of it clogs up completely. I had this issue with doing potassium in the 525XL and ended up keeping the end of the dosing tube submerged in the sump.

Is the powder better than the liquid? Any disadvantages to this ?

No disadvantages in my opinion. Much cheaper to use the powder though.
