Great video, thanks for talking through the modifications. Any reason why you chose to go with a centrifugal supercharger instead of a positive displacement one like a roots or twin screw? Other than what im sure is a lucrative sponsership
@Suikakuji8 жыл бұрын
Heat soak.
@gregh7978 жыл бұрын
KittyCow Centrifugals are alot easier on a street car than a positive displacement, because they build boost linearly with RPM instead of an instant peak. Also means less stress on the drivetrain.
@technom35988 жыл бұрын
Greg Hoffman this has very very little relevance. a roots type still makes its boost very quickly and then holds the boost. linear power is not a reason to run a centrifugal. if anything... it's a reason not to. less area under the curve. they are great dyni queens but suck when it comes down to actual racing
@gregh7978 жыл бұрын
Justin Davison How is that irrelevant. Exactly, roots blowers build peak boost right away and hold it, though they do start to drop off up top, but that's not really an issue. Yes, roots actually are better for racing (IMO) because of that. but like I said, the linear boost curve is better (depending on how you look at it) on a street car, as in daily driver. If you're pushing large amounts of boost, on a daily driver, it's alot more streetable building boost progressively. You don't have to baby it quite as much, and there's less of a shock on the drivetrain than a near instant hit. obviously the difference doesn't matter with small boost numbers. so again to clarify, I was talking about what's tamer for normal street driving, and not what's better for racing.
@ImKittyCow8 жыл бұрын
well, centrifugals actually build boost exponentially, not linearly. Meaning that 8 psi at redline (examply 6000 since its an easy number to work with) will make 8 psi at exactly 6000 and make the square root of 8 psi at 3000. basically this means that centrifugals are really peaky when it comes to power. Keep a centri car below 3000rpm and you wont know its not NA. This is good for longevity however, since the car wears like a non boosted motor the majority of the time, till you rev it out to redline and get smacked in the chest by dale earnhardt

this guy inspired me to to do it for dale and go get the 2017 zl1, I can't wait until the auto version is released so I can go get it hope the 10 speed lives up to the hype

841 whp on stock internals ? great is this safe or over safe?
@ImKittyCow8 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt call it "safe" but it's not really "pushing it" either, like he said he coooouuuld use the nitrous but he's keeping it at 900 for safetys sake, most likely with a perfectly configured nitrous shot he could make 1200 to the wheels on stock internals, but it's just a matter of getting that exactly perfect shot every time, which just cant be done consistently
@teacher_of_the_arcane53995 жыл бұрын
