Hi! I’m a lesbian living in a primarily homophobic country (on our way to elect our PM once more) I’ve come to realise that I don’t have much of a future here because it’s really backwards here and it would take until I reach my senior citizen years to see even a small change. So, anyway, should I plan on moving to France? I am not particularly sure on what I want to study (I’m 19), should I be fluent in French before moving, please drop some advices in the replies❤️
@aimemaggie3 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that. France is definitely lgbt freindly (especialy here in paris) If you're fluent in english you could be able to be an au pair if you're not sure what to study. And you don't nee dot be fluent if you're moving to a major city like paris or Marseille but learning the basics is helpful for getting around. Let me know if you have any other questions and I wish you the best of luck

Question if you want to spend more than a couple of months in france how do you do it? Do you apply for another visa that gives you A longer time to stay?
@aimemaggie3 жыл бұрын
You can stay in france for up to 3 months visa free. I fou want to stay for longer than that, you have to be in your home country to get a long stay visa. You can't just show get the visa in france (there might be some specific instance like for spouse or family visas but for most situations, you need a to get your visa before moving to france). You also can't do many things like opening a bank account for getting long term housing without a visa.

It was the process my program outlined for us. To make the appointment I just googled vfs chicago (the closet office to where I lived) and booked the appointment. The actual application though is through the french visas website france-visas.gouv.fr/web/france-visas/. I found by apartment through pap but i also looked alot on seloger and studapart. It was a lot of looking through listings and finding ones I liked then calling to see if it was available and sometimes being able to see the apartment.
