I went through this - professional artist and then got into A&R , which I think really made me overthink my music, since I was deeply analyzing everyone else's. I just got way too hard on myself and took a long break. Came back with no expectations except making what I want, for my own enjoyment, and things have been so much better.

That sounds about right! Happy to hear you've found the space again 🙏🏻

That camp sounds amazing. Amd starting your own label was a great idea. Sometimes Mum and Dad truly do know best. Thanks for reminding me. I miss my Dad, and I cherish the time I have left with my Mum. I think she'd like your attitude very much.

Loving the flow state you're in with these videos mate. I've been finding them super helpful, thank you for these and for the help since finding your channel. Down to earth, no bullshit and you've actually got credentials instead of the vast majority of MentorTube. Mad respect!

Yea, I’m watching now and noticing there’s no cut/clips.. it’s like he’s talking. I like that part in the last video I listened to where he got pissed he may not have had the equipment on record- that was my favorite part.

@@AdamUpMusic Hahaha I’m glad you dig the stream of consciousness! What video was it that I did that?

Losing a parent is definitely a kick in a teeth and really changes how you view the world and the progression of time. Definitely altered my outlook on life when my dad died in 2021.

Really getting a lot of a value from listening to your videos. I have been massively productive and creative over the last 2-3 years, but sitting on hours of unreleased music, unsure of what to do with it when labels don't think its a fit, and dealing with my own fear of the algorithm not pushing it to an audience. Hearing you speak about your experience makes me understand that this is all normal and part of the journey, and gives me a lot of comfort going into 2025

👍Same here. Just "do". Enjoy the making. Dont focus on the result. Play like a kid. Nice to find you NOW. Most of the things you say dont surprise me, they support in a wonderful way what I started developing during the last 4-5 years. And I really enjoy the way you talk, its got a natural flow but you re not getting lost. Great stuff! Thanks!

I myself just recently came to the realization that all of the artists that I look to for inspiration have teams of top level professionals working on each aspect of the music- I don't and that is fine. I can get it sounding as good as I can, release it, and I can return to it later if I want to improve it. Great video!

Do you mean mixing/mastering engineers?
@XY01Mu
@XY01Mu Ай бұрын
Late reply, but yes that is what I meant! I realize that I can just pay for somebody else to do these things, but I kind of enjoy mixing- plus, more importantly, Im not sure if I could afford a mixing engineer for every single track I want to release haha.

After over a twenty year hiatus from making music (then bored with my Atari cubase & Yamaha A300 sampler). In 2020 & Shocked but not surprised at the manufactured hoax that took our freedom, I took the little money I had & bought a small synthesizer to help me cope (The only good thing to come out of that travisty) The new synth was a steep learning curve indeed, but what else was there in the UK. I have many synths now & one Trax released as an artist. Watching your recent videos have allowed me to hear it out loud what I knew about the music biz of today. I shall keep my not too rough n ready freely available music & leave it at that. Thanks for your valuable words

Thanks for these recent few videos! Really helping in finding the next way in my music and being comfortable with that. One thing I hope you can adres sometime perhaps; I like to create different styles of music (getting bored otherwise) but it'll conflict in being consistent in getting out music. What to do, what to do?

Personally, I'm afraid of doing this because things get complex very fast, and I lose a sense of control. In the end, I still need a lot of editing to extract parts that I like and make coherent track.
