So much about the Blood Raven (potential) lore is great. The potential for being a loyalist 1k sons chapter, thus the high librarian count is great. The sticky fingers having artifacts of other chapters making for rivalries, the knowledge is power thing leading to good relations with Ad Mech and thus better contracts for more wargear etc. And having the marines voiced, especially Gabriel Angelos just adds so much flavour that other chapters lack. I do mine with airbrush, but even without I'd suggest painting the shoulder pads separately because it'll just make things easier and cleaner since they're completely different colours. Vallejo Hull Red is a great undershade and Secret Weapon Ruby is an amazing wash, if people want some other ideas. There's the dark red Blood Ravens and the brighter orangey red Blood Ravens, I've never been able to decide which I prefer -_- I really like your adding 3d printed bits to your models. That opens up a new world of kitbashing opportunities.

The one thing I'm still asking for, and which no guide I found has answered yet, is: how do I paint the helmets and parts of the seargents (the same that the first company uses as it's main color...this goldish, beige one), which color should be used there? I could find no guide yet that covers those, despite they're a very important part of any army, since nearly every unit does have a seargent or some sort of veteran...
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
There's a fair few guides out there concerning gold armour which would work just as well if applied to the helmets alone. There's really just more detail to work with - nothing to be intimidated by! Once you have the basic red down it's just a case of taking it slow and painting (if I'm remembering the Space Hulk miniatures correctly) a lot more gold details! There's a lot to do, but if you break it down and look at each section individually rather than 'oh there's so much,' it'll be much easier to work through.

Speaking only for myself of course, but I don't feel bad buying 3rd party shoulder pads to kit my BR with. If GW would get off their high-horse and make some themselves, I'd buy from them in an instant. Hell, I bought Overkill *Just for Jensus Natorian*, and a thing of Middenland Tufts I didn't really need simply because it had a Blood Raven on the picture. I'd much rather throw my money at GW (clearly), but until they give me BR stuff to spend it on, it goes to whoever does.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio5 жыл бұрын
I didn't buy these. Thingiverse operates on a non-commercial premise, so everyone's work is up there to be used for free. For Chapters which actually have upgrade sprues available from GW I wouldn't think twice - I buy the kits because the range of options is better, I prefer the plastic and I know they're going to match. Until there's Blood Ravens options or transfers available, I honestly don't feel too bad about printing off something that GW actually don't make; for conversion parts and the like, it doesn't seem as though I'm horning in on anything they're doing themselves.
