A message from my 5 year old who is learning to paint. And is about to start on his banshees. "Thank you for showing me how to paint my banshees. I think yours look really cool, and I'll do mine the same way :) "

It's important that you don't get those two mixed up, after all. Incorrect use of either grabby or stabby elements can result in extremely unpleasant use of an ineffective weapon! ;)

they already have picking activation's in AoS, in the combat phase, which works to sort of balance it out. also Martin Morrin said that as soon as a book comes out they are working on the next book, so like space marines and then space marine 2.0. so if 8th came out of course they are working on 9, makes sense.

I'd seen miniatures being shaded a couple of times before, but it hadn't occurred to me until quite by accident when painting equipment on a Marine. Accidents happen, and suddenly... bam!

That is great; though I wish that GW wouldn't put those joints running right across the heads of their ghostly minis. The issue goes right back to the two piece body on the Cairn Wraith. Do you have any tips for hiding that, while still keeping the smooth lines of the design?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
It's a pain in the neck, right? I've seen a few solutions, most of which tend to involve some liquid green stuff, but who's got the time across forty-odd spooky boogies? One that's worked for me is to run a line of glue along the seam, let it dry, then do a second and leave that to dry overnight. The following day you can usually just take your knife/scraper to it and smooth it out like ordinary plastic, and it should be fine. I just got too damn keen to paint this one. ;)

So I literally JUST got into this hobby and picked up this Mini set and a few paints. Saw this video and decided to go get these paints for it. I am wondering what you used for the primer base coat (I would guess ULTHUAN GREY)? Great job.
@yyrkoon135 жыл бұрын
The reason I ask is that it seems to matter in order get the initial wash to look that chalky. I know nothing about painting miniatures so I apologize if that is a stupid question.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio5 жыл бұрын
For the primer I hit it with a couple of light sprays of Corax White, which is very close to Ulthuan Grey in colour. If I'm doing something I want to look smooth, I'll then do a thin coat of Ulthuan Grey to even out any imperfections in the primer and give me a better surface to paint from. But to answer the original question, I think, Corax White is the primer to choose. :)
@yyrkoon135 жыл бұрын
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Maybe a stupid question, but I assume you prime the pieces while still on the Sprue and then build?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio5 жыл бұрын
Nope! Primed once it's all assembled. If you prime pieces on the sprue then clip them off, you're going to end up with bits you need to re-prime, as well as not being able to smooth out any mould lines without peeling off your primer. In most cases - a good 95% of the time - it's easiest to simply assemble a miniature and do your clean up, then prime it.
@SunFury10796 жыл бұрын
Great job. Why did you go with nihilak oxide over hexwraith flame from the last nighthaunt mini you painted?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it was just a colour preference. I like the slightly more ethereal look Nihilahk Oxide has for the Banshees. :)

I just found this, this could be helpful for others. A comment said it worked. Lamenters Yellow: Vallejo Game Ink Yellow : Water - 1 : 2 WayWatcher Green: Vallejo Game Ink Green : Vallejo Game Ink Yellow : Water - 3 : 2 : 10 Bloodletter Red: Vallejo Game Ink Red : Vallejo Game Ink Yellow : Water - 4 : 1 : 10 Guilleman Blue: Vallejo Game Ink Blue : Vallejo Game Ink Red : Water - 6 : 1 : 14 (But more blue and more water could do the trick even better)

Talassar Blue + Contrast Medium (1:3 iirc) results in a near-match to Guilliman Blue.
