Just a thought 1 more cotter pin on the bar on the inside of the tab you welded on it will let the bar slide to the side but not all the way out and you would have a back up pin

Thanks for asking. I'm not sure when it started, but a few years back, I noticed that wearing was uncomfortable. So I started to just not wear them unless I had to.
