seems like he's doing a 10 year loan on each vehicle ( i only estimated for the f12 based on 330k msrp + tax w/ 20% down at 3% interest)
@Marc-uw4lw2 жыл бұрын
@@khierddineamx4783 I believe he's referring to the typical HP (Hire Purchase) agreement whereby you pay for the car/item monthly and after the final payment is made, ownership of the car is legally transferred to you from the finance company. That's why it's important to look after the car, since it's not technically yours until the loan is repaid in full, and if you need to sell it, you still need to be able to cover the loan amount with the car's value.

My biggest gripe with finance is when people rant and rave on about "if you can't pay cash, you can't afford it", as if finance means we don't have to pay for our cars... Madness. Thank you for being open and honest about what you do!

Having a search done affecting your credit score SHOULD be against the law. Why should the correct and proper why understand if you can afford something responsibly affect your ability to borrow? It's like being charged £5 every time you check your bank account online before you buy something. It makes a mockery of responsible debt at the very first hurdle.
@nickmartin38384 жыл бұрын
Your comment makes no sense at all. People that are constantly applying for credit are clearly an inherently higher credit risk. I respect what Tom has done, but debt is toxic and is the highest cause of suicide in the UK. So loading yourself with debt should be against the law. The way the credit scoring system works is to protect consumers, not punish them.
@brianiswrong4 жыл бұрын
@@nickmartin3838 I respect you argument but My point is , that for a few of lifes " essentials" we are going to need to borrow ,so we shop around and doing our due diligence get cast iron quotes from multiply companies. This involves them running a credit check (as anything less is just a guesstimate) and this inturn makes our credit score lower?,which in turn means buying a house or a car more expensive,which in turn means you have less money to live on. To my way of thinking ( and maybe this would also help toxic dept (maybe in only a small way,but every bit helps) ,would be for the government to be in charge of credit checks,I mean they know more about me than Experian do (and Experian only use the government data anyway,and their time is ultimately paid for by any body having a loan) and should not affect your credit score. Let's face it ,as long as somebody can prove they earn £1 a week by having an income (be it a job or benefits) somebody is going to provide a loan against that income (and again the harder you may find to repay that loan,the more interest is charged). So maybe the government should also cap interest rates at say 50% more than the market average cheapest APR for a loan of that amount over that time period. SO IF Tom ,(as an example) with a good income can borrow £500 over 1 year at 4% ,then Archie(as an example) with a lower income,but still passing the government credit check,should pay no more the 6% to borrow the same amount over the same time period. I think the real problem with debt and suicide is the upper and lower examples of the above. Ie a person being charged £600 in order to borrow £100 ,and then borrowing again to pay the first loan and so on. This is the " black market economy which will always exist,but might srink if my government controlled system worked. And the business man who is playing the legal minefield and borrowing money on assets that are not as solid as a fixed income job or benefits,so is like a swan,all cool and at ease above the waterline,but below it is thrashing around trying to make 1+1 =3 ,and finally is faced with debts and court charges he can never pay back and keep ' face" I see controlled debt as a good thing for the economy,but fully agree it can be a dangerous road to tread.
@LiqdPT4 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling that how financing a vehicle works in the UK is significantly different than the US. I think they talking about car loans (where you own the car) but exit and balance at exit sound more like a lease.
@ianmowbray32844 жыл бұрын
You are right all the cars are owned by the finance companies . As long as you make the payments you get to drive them.
@LiqdPT4 жыл бұрын
@@ianmowbray3284 That's technically the case with car loans here as well. The bank holds the title until you pay off the car. But that's just it, the loan the entire car price over a period of time (plus interest). If you get to the end of the loan, it's paid off and yours. You can sell the car before then, but a smart buyer is going to ensure what they're paying is going towards paying off the loan first. Leases are a shorter (2 yr maybe) finance agreement, but you're not paying off the car. At the end of the term, you can either pay the remainder to keep the car, or you give the car back. These arrangement are much more restrictive and specify no modifications and how many miles you can drive. Really, it's more of a long term rental. Many businesses lease vehicles because it means you always have newer vehicle and makes sense tax-wise somehow. I may be wrong, but that doesn't seem to be the case from what I've seen of these UK car finance deals (or there are some details I'm not seeing). I see people swapping our exhausts and painting cars which makes me think it's not a lease as we think of it.
