You can use MCCC to bulk delete townies. I believe you can delete all at once, and by occult and possibly other factors as well. Never used it myself, but I’m sure it’ll come in handy for making your own save files and such! ☺️ Very happy to see you back, by the way! 😁💙

As a Sims 2 girly, Rotational play is my jam. Kuttoe’s Home Regions is a blessing to me because I can keep people restricted to their home zone and that has helped a lot. After I got past a certain pack count, managing my unplayed sims got to be a bit much. Right now I have a bunch of Sims 4 families that are my creation…I’ve also intergrated the Calientes and Goths but otherwise am playing new families. I found I couldn’t fully replicate the smoothness of Sims 2 rotational play in Sims 4. So much like Sims 3, I just invented a new rotational style that I do manage A LOT through mods. I do a have an ‘aging round’ much like you. But I want neighborhood stories to go for them during ‘aging round’ so that new sims are born. My ‘played sims’ tab is basically my protected class, families I invented and care about and who are in my rotation. Now I have a goal to have families in every world with lives that cross and stories that overlap over time. So I only apply a light hand to unplayed townies for the most part. I will do a gallery pull to keep them from being atrocious.

Been playing 1 week rotations off screen and just doing update videos on my channel when I finish a round. I change households at 3-4am so I don't miss them going to work/school. I have neighbourhood stories on for non playables. I use a mod to reduce University to 4 classes to graduate so I can play it in 1 week. I set a custom lifespan with MC command centre. I also use miss hissys mods.

I also shoot for around 5am with my rotations as it’s around the time if sims are ‘up early’ it makes sense for them to be up and about since the game likes to reset sims in off ways when you change familes. So in addition to wanting to not miss school/wirk it makes jumping into needs management slightly more of a clean swap.

i started this idea i wanted to do a legacy but i get bored with just one household so i started with 4 siblings that started in 1 house but each moved out so i play them rotationally and every sim thats born in that family so i still do rotation but legacy as well. its been really fun.

Legacy and rotation have overlap as they both tend to be generational, just rotational means you don’t commit to one Sim being ‘the one’ you follow next. Rotations allow you to stay with multiple folks.

I personally leave aging on for everyone when I play rotationally, I just change the age spans to much longer using MCCC. Townies/sims I don’t play not aging in the background bothers me so that’s why I do that.

Carl's Sim Spawn and Filter Tool is a fantastic mod for adding/deleting sims. You can add sims from a specific list, or from your library. It even comes with a slew of custom sims made by other folks. And you can filter by occult as well. Tell it to add 50 vampires and it will grab 50 vampires from your library. It also lets you control what sims are seen as walkbys or what sims are allowed in specific venues.

Ahhh so excited! I love setting up neighborhoods, but sticking to them is always so hard for me 😅. I suggest checking out mods by Lot51, Lumpinou, and Kuttoe (Kuttoe has the Home Regions mod that lets you assign townies/homeless sims to worlds). I haven't gotten NPC Control to work for me, but I found that Zero's Assign NPC Jobs does the same thing, stopping random spawning included!

I love rotational play in the Sims 2, but in the Sims 4 the game generates too many things in the background. I think the one thing the Sims 4 should have is an option to CLOSE OFF A WORLD. My goodness I would love to play in willow creek without judith ward showing up

Congrats for finishing the website update! It must've been so tedious! Anyway, what I need is a simple notification mod if I had passed certain number of days / time to remind me it's time to move household - I can't count the time I missed the time to change household, and it messed my rotation so much!

What I do is keep a little note pad next to me while I play. Every night when my Sims go to bed, I mark off one day on the notepad. And as backup, I will also calculate which day I need to move on before I start playing - and write that down too. Another option would be to make it a "holiday" on the calendar with no traditions or anything. You can then cancel the "holiday" once it pops up to let you know it's time to move on.

You can manage population using MC control center. You can set it up so that the game only populate Sims from your own library or that it doesn’t populate any Sims at all. Then it’s up to you to add enough Sims to your unplayed to fill all those slots.

Hay seen your original rotational video years back! I play vanilla and have been playing rotationally (1 week per household) with ALL premade family's for ALL WORLDS now for over 2 years. (Onto 6th rotation), theme to your video! I keep track using a spreadsheet heavily inspired by yours with a few added columns (sexuality, gender, occult). I enjoy rotational play also. I do turn off aging for non-active households, but I leave story progression on. I enjoy coming back around to the family and seeing the changes that happened while I was gone. Rotational and legacy are my favorite play styles.

So how do you avoid messing up another family while not playing them? What I mean is, while playing one family, they can always meet, befriend, date, hate, or affect other sims from the other families. Or those other sims may randomly show up at locations and do something dumb and might d!e. Do you reverse anything done? Let it happen?

You can use MCCC to automatically import player-generated townies for NPC jobs such as bartender etc using "Import Tray Settings" if you don't want to spend time creating them but would still like them to have detailed backgrounds and outfits. I typically use this in my legacy rotational save, where I'll start with one household and expand the family normally but move everyone out to start their own households that I can rotate between

I love this so much. I used it to set up two of my worlds but I'm seriously considering using it to set up all the worlds in the save file and play rotationally from there. It's a lot of households, but I'd rather none of my premades be doing anything until I get there.

I play rotationally, as well. Interestingly, I use many of the same categories in my spreadsheet. However, I also play (at the same time) a decades legacy, or historical legacy. I tend to keep all aging off, and age each Sim as they reach the next birthday on my chart (yes, I keep track of all that). For me, 4 Sims days equals one year for aging purposes. I play each household from Sunday at 2 Am to the next Sunday at 2 AM. This is because Holidays end at 2 AM, and this would be the change of season if that comes up. I've started playing with 14 days per season just this past week and find I enjoy the longer seasons, but usually I don't care which household is during which season or holiday, as I see each day played as just a snap shot of time, not as strictly linear. This also helps when I play university, as I will use the University household until they graduate, then put them at the bottom of the list, marking them for the extra time it took for them. For example, if University is four years, and I am playing each household a total of 1 3/4 year (7 Sim days), then I will mark the University Household as having run about 3.5 years. That's two rotations. Which means I don't play them again until the second rotation after their play through (I ski them once in the rotation). But, while Playing them, I will play the entire University time from start to graduation, since Sim University doesn't run the same as my aging preference. As aging is off, I don't have to worry about awkward aging problems for any of the families while this happens. And, since I am really nuts, I will make each Sim in university do a four class workload per semester for three semesters (thus keeping in time with the 'two rotation' I've set. the biggest drawback is when I have so many Sims spreading out and marrying and having families. Thus, the reason I have the decade's style legacy play. I use the "Ultimate Decades Legacy" rules for disease and historical events, like wars. So, starting in 1300 (without much in the way of CC), I will be able to 'cull' the excess Sims through world events. I use these rules, even if not playing historical, so if I notice my save getting a few too many Sims for my comfort, I declare a Sim World Emergency (earthquake, war, pandemic, whatever). I can pick and choose who dies, but I tend to prefer to use a random selector for these events to make it more interesting. Cindy, how do you handle an excess of playable Sims?

I’ve always used rotational game play, but in a slap dash manner. I have trouble not worrying about their school/work performance when I am playing another household. Be interesting to see if your method lets them keep up their grades, etc. This was such a fun video!

Work and school performance is not affected at all. You just need to be careful what time you change households because your sims may be home when you load their lot and don’t automatically go to school/work but will lose performance until they do.

The only real risk is university if you leave a family with their kids as A students, you will come back to A students as they don’t really have school unless you are playing them. So if your neighbor has a school age child you will find them often not in school in the middle of the day (which I hate). But it won’t count against them because achool only exist for them when you play them. University is special, University students will be put on academic probation if you leave them unplayed they don’t go to class.

I always play rotationally, with a focus on genetics. I like to mix every single sim in the neighborhood until there's only one sim, who has everyone's genes lol it's super fun on the sims 3 because there's so many families

I have my 12 main families, plus their extended families as Played Households. I let everyone else exist and use Neighborhood stories. I don’t use MCCC but I use a few other mods like Bienchen has a Less Relationship Culling mod 😁

I also do rotation gameplay, but I bought it to another level: I play every households in every world. I started with 5 households only in Willow Creek several years ago and my goal was to populate the whole Willow Creek + expand to the other worlds. So it's growing organically. It's a very long task. I play a household for 7 days. I put 25% of their careers income as a deposit for taxes. I also use Carl's mode for more realistic incomes.

I have a question! I tried to do rotational gameplay with Sims 4 so each household can have different careers (doctor, actor, restaurant owner, etc) so I can get the most bang of my buck with the packs. I found it impossible because when I would switch from one household to the other, the sims would not attend work or school and their performances would plummet. I like some level of story progression but the sims in the sims 4 would just randomly adopt babies when they didn't have the means (I switched that off). I switched to the Sims 3 because the rotational gameplay and story progression was so much better. However, I really want to give the Sims 4 another shot. My question is - does the MCCC fix the issue of when I switch households, they are not at work/school and they are failing? In the Sims 3, unactive households still do their responsibilities (for the most part) and make friends, get promoted, and continue to build up their finances while I spend time on another family. This issue has made it near impossible for me to play Sims 4 because the hard work I put into one sim is diminished if I go to another household. Thanks!!

5:00 NOTE: do not turn on fame opt-out, it will break your game. some sims NEED to be spawned and will be respawned for certain things to function. 5:30 MCCC can be used to manage which townies spawn as well, it can take from your tray files (which you can specifically tag so it doesnt take sims you dont want) and spawn them in your world. it also has many population management tools.

I play only four families each round, but I change what families I play for each round. Usually I have some main characters I try and follow. When I first start a new save, I only play one sim per round and have the season set to one week. When someone comes along I want to follow or the family tree branches off, I'll add another household and play two weeks per round, changing the season length to two weeks. I stop at four because that is the max length we can set a season. But, I might shorten the rotation to something 28 is dividable in so I can play more families. Maybe, we'll see! If I'm playing with university I play that household for two weeks but only age them one week. Because the probations glitch out if I don't. Also I can use that second week to move people in and out as they finish their semesters.

I play rotationally as well. I have all the premades from the Sims 2 and 4 pretty much. I let neighborhood stories go for the other households and townies but not mine. My Broke family is on Generation 5 and they still are broke. Lol. In general they crack me up as they are a hot mess. Cassandra Goth married a the fam I created (the only one I made) the Gothics. And her decendants and legacy household still reside in the Gothic Large castle. They are the wealthiest fam in my game. Pancakes, Goths, Landgraabs, Dreamer, etc are all doing pretty well. ;)
