Hello! I'm finally recording some audio commentary today and it's been AGES since I last spoke to a microphone so excuse me if I'm a little rough around the edges 😅 I also didn't write a script for this, which I always do for my talking videos, but I thought it'd be faster to record myself just free styling. To be honest, I don't know which one takes longer. Free styling definitely takes longer to record, but writing a script is also pretty time consuming. Oh well, maybe in the future, I can be faster at free styling lol
Anyway, this video is a real time pencil sketch of a portrait because I'm trying to practice how to draw ONCE AGAIN! This is definitely one of the prettier sketches I've done - so I think it's worthy as a video. The rest of the not-so-pretty sketches are just posted on the Community tab. I also talk about my journey with getting back into art and the ✨ lessons ✨ I learnt whilst practicing how to draw portraits once again. I'm all about mastering facial proportions before I can dive into a full-fledged painting.

Rebuilding that muscle memory is something I've definitly had issues with after not drawing for a long time. It's amazing how much knowledge you internalize when drawing regularly. Going back to old art like "how did I do that??" is really humbling lol. This sketch is also so, so pretty

I have not drawn in over 20 years and now I’m getting back into it and it has been pretty hard. I don’t remember a lot of things. I wish I had recorded lessons like you had but it was different times back then. Hehe. I loved the way I did fashion illustration when I was in school for it and I’m trying to get back there again.

You can definitely do it! I feel the same about wanting to go back to how I used to draw. There’s a sense of nostalgia looking back at my old work and wishing I could create the same thing, but so far with this journey, I found that doing something new has been helpful with getting back into art. I almost feel discouraged knowing I can’t go back, but I feel excited to learn new things instead 🥰❤️ wishing you all the very best! ✨✨

Omg welcome back Zyra, I am on my hiatus too due to my mental health ever since 2020. Im on and off with art even though I know art is something i will keep doing until i die 🤣. I remember you being one of my biggest inspiration. I used to draw with your videos. It felt like I relate to you a lot because i checked your channel for a long time not watching and realized youre also gone for your hiatus and just came back recently.
