Nice drum sander/ thickness planer. The heart of the job is the jig for getting the taper. Bamboo flyrod makers use a similar jig to get the tapers on their rod material (usually a 5 or 6 pieces) with a plane and sandpaper. Since I only make a few bows a year, I think I will use that method, but it's nice to see how a production bowyer does it. Thanks for the video.

I was wondering how you did the taper. Thx for the brief! I was already trying to figure that out! I was thinking of using my planer on a tapered sled but I could only see something that thin getting eaten up into a pile of toothpicks.

First off all, thank you for watching the channel! It means a lot to me to get the feedback! Anyway, I’ve seen it done the way you describe… I’d just make sure the board has good, straight grain to avoid tear out.

I'm not worried about your safety! Did we raise pigs together?? Nice set up, its 100% paid for! I finally got a supermax drum sander, luv it, but it was $3 large...

@meadowlarkadventuregear I have been watching a bunch of these videos, getting ready to make one, and there are many features to your design that I really like. One question I have is about your table height adjustment, you mentioned that its design was covered in the linked videos, but his design was significantly different. Do you happen to know where you found the design that your using, I have not seen it in any other videos? Thanks,

I don't think I saw this design specifically in any videos as much as I was able to iterate on the designs that I have seen to come up with this one...

Hello, greetings from Colombia, I want to ask something, can a bow be made with 2 sheets of bamboo and a wooden core?

@@JuanOspina-p8y it’s my favorite style of build!!! Check out my bamboo back and belly bow build series - I used a cherry wood core with bamboo on the back and the belly. My Asian inspired recurve series has the same style of construction… enjoy the videos!

If you don't mind me asking? Do you have a favorite or go to design you have created more than other styles over time? What's the shortest bow you have made?
@meadowlarkadventuregear

I would say that by for and away I have made more bamboo or hickory backed Perry RF/DF bows than any other kind. I use a basic American flat bow design with an 8” static riser (fade to fade). The shortest of those is 60” NTN with a 28” draw length but the riser on that one is only 5” fade to fade to help shorten the design. my latest affinity is with bamboo back and belly bows and I plan on getting much shorter bows as I work my way through refining my designs.
