I’m running something very very similar to this right now and it’s great! Day 1 - BB Strict OHP (Heavy) Day 2 - KB Push Press (Volume) Day 3 - DB Seated Press (Hypertrophy) Appreciate it as always!

so far what works best for me is 3 day per week with at least 1 day of heavy push press with a controlled negative. Once you get the hang of push press, you realise you can throw like 15-25% more weight on the barbell, so these controlled negatives are CRUSHING, and the fact you are lifting overhead something much heavier than your strict ohp will help you overcoming heavy strict barbell from a psychological standpoint. As a point of reference I went from a hard single at 72.5kg to 5 x 3 at 72.5 in a month of doing that. (160lbs)

Perfect timing! This is actually kinda what I was gonna do this upcoming cycle. I have a "comp press" day, a swiss bar press, and a paused press (at the forehead). And some bench /incline work and dips throughout the week for supplemental work.

Thats interesting. Eddie Hall said in one of his videos to train with no gear until right before the competition. Thoughts? Could it be a personal preference?

My spotter arms have holes for band pegs and I am trying to figure out how to incorporate that in my press program. I'd like to get back to a 225lb press that has dropped like a stone after a shoulder injury.

Thanks for the great info Joey! I have a question regarding pin presses: I've seen people like Alan Thrall do them for sets of 5, but Chad Wesley Smith does pin work (for squat and bench) as singles (he suggests a 12 week progression which starts with 8 singles @ 60% of 1RM with 30 seconds rest with as low as 3 reps at 90% of 1RM and the end). Which approach would you recommend?

Hi Joey, how would you go about doing this structure with your other lifts? Would something like a full body, push pull, or Upper Lower work best? I'm currently 155 lbs with a 175 strict OHP. My goal is hit a 225 OHP and would like to focus my program around the OHP, Push Press, and Behind the neck press.

youre gonna have to bulk homie 225 strict at 155 is pretty much impossible. Youd have a hard time hitting that on copious amounts of gear. Even 175 at 155 is already elite as thats over body weight by 20lb.

I'm currently benching 3x a week using a DUP style program, would I need to put my bench on the backburner to be able to succesfully run this program or could you do both? I'm really trying to find a way to bench AND OHP 3x a week on both, so 6 press / week in total...

so you dont pump and ramp up the volume with iso like lateral raises not at all in day 1 and 2 ? i mean after/besides the compound/core lifts ?
