You should mention "binding" when going full stick travels. Sometimes, there's even "more" servo travel that can be had for max performance. Very easy to over look after an RTF crashes and "seems" to be flight worthy. Most cases since owners has no knowledge of the proper build/programming better to throw it away.

I was at the Ranch in Livermore. Met Justin Coffman, while I was the smallest Heli, he tried to help me out. So did others. I am waiting for some batteries to charge so I can employ your technique. I thought I had it figured out. While hooked to my NX6, I put the Fusion 270 in rate mode. The tail or servo was drifting? Two people recalibrated my sticks. The rudder "stick" bounces between 0 and +1 on the monitor section. All others are good. My old DX6e is a rock. No fluctuating at all. Not sure if this is the issue.
@CoeShow6196 ай бұрын
@@ericcoker8784 well, if this is a stock 270, it has a AR636 flybarless unit which does not have rate mode, so you must have some other flybarless system, and as far as the monitor moving, you may be in 11ms frame rate on the nx6 and at 22ms frame rate on the old one. Either way, the 636 has a servo creep. It’s an obsolete system. It’s always gonna creep, that’s just what it does. Put a ikon2 in it and be done.

@@CoeShow619 you are correct. It is the 636a, Fusion 270. It had us scratching our heads cuz we used the Gyro settings and put them -50 for stunt 1, LoL. No wonder 🤔. @ericcoker8784 the only way is to turn on radio, and turn on heli, don’t touch it, let it initialize, now unplug it, but do not move it as you do unplug it. Flip it over and make sure the servo horn is as close to 90 as possible or slightly pointed toward the nose is better than being pointed at the tail. Now put the tail blades in a V and point them toward the nose of the heli. That bottom blade needs to be pointed toward the boom slightly. A 2 degree kind of tail rotor pitch. Adjust the length of the tail rotor push rod to get it right. Use the 270 manual online to set the radio properly for tail gyro. That’s all you can do.

So the spektrum 6250 is for beginners? Im a beginner so im not offended. But will the 6250 ever catch up to the Icon? Every beginner advances and im wondering how long till the 6250 wont work for me anymore. Any thoughts on if horizon will update the software to iron out the problems?
@CoeShow6196 ай бұрын
The 6250hx is a fine flybarless system. The deal with it is that a beginner, must know PID tuning to use it to full potential. I believe the engineer thinks that Quadcopters and helicopters go hand in hand. They kinda do, but kinda don’t. If I did not race Quadcopters I would have never learned about what PID even is. The ikon2 uses PID in an advanced menu. I could go there, but in the ikon2 wizard set up program, we can pick the size of the helicopter, the size of the blade, and the wizard will set a default PID that 90% of the time works really close to the final goal. 6250 uses tend to base everything upon Safe mode too. It has limited the ability to teach people the function of a helicopter. A helicopter is not stable by itself. It’s the pilot who flies with the ability to make it stable. The 6250 can loop and roll and flip, but to me, it’s not electronically fast enough to keep up with machine gun thumb inputs. It’s fine for 80% of the people out there. They don’t make it for a picky guy like me. I have tried vbar silver, blue, Neo, Microbeast, Spartan, 6250, Spirit, Goosky, radiomaster, Omp, and others I can’t think of. They all have a “feel”. I just happen to like every form of ikon2. I’m not sponsored or hooked up by them. It just works for someone who has enough knowledge to realize what the program is actually doing when you make a change. The ikon2 has a bubble that pops up over every adjustment to tell you what it does. It’s well thought out. Vbar is just for fan boys. It has issues and it’s way overpriced. They all are like girlfriends. They all act different.

I was in the gyro page of the NX10se. My tail gyro gains are on my gear channel. Switch is B or Flightmode switch. As I switch from Normal mode to idle up modes the tail gain will drop as headspeed goes up. Take a look at my ikon2 Brain 2 walkthrough videos. Some set up stuff in those may help you get some understanding. I love using the wizard for set up. It’s so easy my wife can do it. lol.

So I’ve been doing helis for a few years now. Built a Raw 580 using the 6250. Adjusted the PID and it seems to fly well. There is something I don’t understand though. You and a lot of the other content creators say lower the gains. Are you referring to the PID? Or in my case on the 6250… are you saying go into the Gyro settings on the transmitter and lower that percentage? I was unsure what to do during my set up so I basically cut and pasted the settings of my fusion 360. When you guys go to fix tail wag I always hear lower the gain, very rarely do I hear y’all say lower/raise the individual PID’s. Just wondering if there’s something I’m missing
@CoeShow6197 ай бұрын
This is where the 6250 is confusing. I am lowering the tail gain all as one in the gyro page with the radio. You can either use a channel for this with the 6250 or just tune PID if you do not assign an auxiliary channel for tail gain in 6250. The gains apply after the mechanical setting is perfect rotor pitch for the tail. A tail wag is basically a search or hunt for the center position. That’s why we set it in rate mode instead of heading hold. But with 6250 we can not put the gyro in rate mode to check perfect rotor pitch. It’s estimated there only. So yes, PID is related to this gain, but the gyro page lowers the PID all as one.
@Ryan-uu4tw7 ай бұрын
Yeah love this hobby but confusing. I cut and pasted the radio set up for the 580 off of my 360 using an NX6… I do get to set different cyclic and tail gains for each flight mode (which I did) however I had to set all gyro gains the same because you simply could not assign the switch properly in the gyro menu using the nx6. Transported all models to an nx10 and have not changed anything yet. That 360 flys great after a servo upgrade and the 580 came out nearly perfect with the 6250’s recommended PIDs. So luckily I was able to make minor changes and be good. I’d do more but I’m worried I’ll cause something crazy to happen when I least expect it as I just don’t 100% get it. Well over the years your videos have helped a lot with programming and mechanical setup. Greatly appreciate it👍
@CoeShow6197 ай бұрын
@Ryan-uu4tw I see. So, with the NX10 you can go into forward programming, 6250hx system set up, or could be set up, and assign aux 2 or aux 3 for the tail gyro gain channel, then go to the gyro page in NX10 and assign aux 2 or 3 whichever you used, and you can put the switch as B. This way when you go into stunt 1 or 2 the gain will lower with the function of switch B. You can see my screen in this video, although with Ikon you will see that Gear is my channel, and B is my switch for the function. You could also call the switch Flight mode. B and Flightmode are the same switch. Kinda weird but true.
