1. Little and often (spaced repetition) 2. Question banks are your best friend 3. Stop taking notes and use the K.I.S.S method (Question papers, question banks, flashcards) 4. Keep it simple 5. Weak area list (Note down all the questions you repeatedly get wrong ect) 6. Study with friends 7. Don’t go into too much detail too early on (Go with the process) 7. Make exercise, socialising and sleeping non negotiable! Lastly, take what is useful to you.

Your explanation helps me to find my own strategy to learn. I am currently in med school and sometimes I feel overwhelmed. I think the most important thing about learning how to study best, is like you said, "think for yourself". I personally do things to study that others find counterintuitive and don't like, but work really well for me.
@anthony.zhang_ Жыл бұрын
Yes love that - don’t just follow the crowd, listen but then use what is useful for you :)
@amorgarlic6735 Жыл бұрын
I tried to follow the popular study methods and ended up focusing on devising those methods rather than actually focus on the information. For me, reading it at my own pace and taking the time to understand it by re reading, going back and forth, and finally connecting the dots is what helps me learn, and this takes a longer time than others but it’s what works for me. Rather than trying to cram 273773 study methods into one session, I think I prefer to take it slow and steady, because that’s what drills it into my brain. Along with that, using various resources for review like online quizzes, questions banks or KZbin videos also helps me a lot in reinforcing what I already know. I think it’s better to work on what’s worked FOR YOU in the past vs what everyone else is raving about. I used a lot of study methods incorrectly, perhaps, and it didn’t work out. So now I’m just going to stick with taking it one thing at a time.

Can you make a video going into more details on how you process the information? E.g. with a list of recorded lectures and readings of articles & textbook, which one do you go through first, and how do you go through? Do you first gloss over and pick up the main words, and then read into each section? What do you do to make the information stick?
@anthony.zhang_ Жыл бұрын
Try and categorise things first into headings/subheadings (“scoping the subject”) by skim reading - then I’ll read it in some more detail and turn into flashcards. Flashcards and question banks is what makes the information stick - reading information is for understanding initially.

Emphasis on the over studying: During my microbiology exam,I had 3 days to review everything, and I studied around 15 hours per day, solving questions showed I was ready, and I was scoring well on really difficult concepts. The night before i felt like I couldn’t see the material anymore. I was starting to get basic concepts wrong, i got frustrated, and unfortunately that stayed with me up until the next morning AKA exam day. i went to the exam like a drunk person, with fever and a severe flu as well, and I couldnt read a word. i dont even remember the questions. i felt miserable and helpless, it screwed me up and I did not pass that exam. dont overstudy, really dont. We are all perfectionists and I believe that is more of a curse than it is a blessing

I love your video. It’s one of the best studying tip videos I lately watched! 😊 But I always ask myself, if you start a new topic by reading the chapter in the book and then do questions. Because it sounds as if no one wants to read the chapter or study the lecture. As if doing questions is the only type of studying, that brings you forward. What’s your advice? 🙈
@anthony.zhang_ Жыл бұрын
Thank you! No reading something for the first time is great! What I mean by taking no notes, is don’t rewrite stuff that’s already out there. But, also just doing questions straight away is an option, it also depends on how difficult the topic is whether reading to understand is useful

Opinion, not all study subjects have question banks. It is probably easier for medical content since there's so many student who need to learn how to properly study. For engineering, there's less question banks for certifications. Also, for free resources like Quizlet, there is no way to know if you can trust the content.
