Great tips!! Your experience with Prose is a good example of why I loove silicones in hair, makeup, sunscreens... haha Honestly, the curly hair community is wrong a lot 🫣 Not all silicones are for everyone, but there's some amazing ones out there. Amodimethicone and cyclomethicone are very lightweight and don't builup on hair and help to leave the hair like silk. Bis-aminopropyl is great for damaged hair. Even good ol' dimethicone is great in shampoo to detangle hair and make the experience of washing better (and no, it doesn't buildup on the scalp, especially not in shampoos). The oils the curly hair method often cites as "better" alternatives can actually be heavier for hair and weight it down. And they're terrible for seborrheic dermatitis too 😅 Another tip for conditioners ❤: use it BEFORE shampoo. What damages hair the most and fades dyes when washing is water, hard water is especially bad. This will protect it from both the water and shampooing. Then you can either condition again or use a leave-on product outside the shower. This tip has been life-changing for me who lives somewhere with hard water

for all my flat oily hair folks out there, i’ve done so much trial and error and have the lowdown for you - i can’t recommend the ouai detox shampoo enough (or pantene volume and body if you are on a tight budget!) i bleach my hair mostly because my hair is way too oily if i don’t 😂 and even with double processed blonde hair these work for me without being too drying. i use the shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil conditioner and masque and they’re awesome. and the hask coconut oil in the little vial for my ends. i brush my scalp every night before bed and sleep with my hair up in a silk lined beanie. at my hairdresser everyone was like this is the healthiest i’ve ever seen bleached ends. 🫠🥲💓 and i can go a few days without washing FINALLY 😭💘 GREAT tips in this video 💖

I clicked on the thumbnail so fast. I have four young kids and the postpartum hair loss was worse each time (and less of the hair grew back each time too). Now that I’m done having children I really want to focus on restoring my hair. I’m going to look for alternatives to heat styling and brush my hair before washing it like you said. Your hair is goals 🥹❤!

Congrats mama for putting in all that work having 4 kids 👏👏👏 sometimes hair never gets a chance to fully recover before another round comes again, but now it’s time to care for yourself too ❤️

Have you looked into having a sensitivity to MI/MCI (methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone)? They're preservatives used a lot in shampoos especially paired in formulas with sulfates. A lot of people develop a sensitivity to them over time and the main symptoms is itching 😅 I think I might also be sensitive to it, actually. If you notice the itching with certains shampoos only, that might be it. I really don't think is the sulfates because in properly formulated products, they're not as problematic as people think. They're amazing surfactants, especially for oily hair. When formulated well, in a mix with other surfactants and ingredients, they're also not drying. It's more likely to be the MI/MCI. (This is also why phenoxyethanol and parabens are the superior preservatives haha. They're very safe and non-sensitizing.)

No but that’s so fascinating! I first had this sensitivity when I was about 12 years old, way before the “sulfate free” fad came about. I’m still not totally sure which ingredients trigger it!
@enie6359
@enie6359 25 күн бұрын
@frmheadtotoe It could totally be something else, of course. Fragrance, another preservative, or even the most random ingredients, tbh (some people react to niacinamide! Which is generally considered a really safe ingredient even for sensitive skin! Everyone is different.) It could totally be some surfactant like sulfates or just maybe the formula of a shampoo overall is too drying or irritating for you. But it's rather common to be sensitive to MI/MCI, especially if you've been using products with them for some time. You can try to see if avoiding them for a while helps 💖 Lots of shampoos don't have them, luckily for us haha

I don't understand why I always have so many split ends in my hair. I have never dyed or bleached my hair. I only use a curling iron on it like once a year and I never blow dry it. I use moisturizing shampoos and hair masks every time I shower (every other day). I got a satin pillowcase, but you said silk is better. And I try to trim my hair regularly. My hair grows pretty long, but I usually chop it off to my chin every 5 years because I do have so many split ends everywhere besides just the ends. I know I have dry skin, so I probably have dry hair too?

Yes you’re exactly right, dry hair can lead to more splits! You can try using a boar bristle brush to spread the natural oils down your hair shaft and also use a hair oil at the ends to keep them hydrated and looking smoother. I really love the shu uemura art of hair one!

Do you think having your IUD removed almost a yr ago helped lessen your hair loss?
@frmheadtotoe
@frmheadtotoe 26 күн бұрын
It’s possible! I didn’t personally notice a difference with my hair regarding coming off the IUD… if anything, it actually regulated my periods/hormone levels so once I got off of it I didn’t have major symptoms. But I do have a ton of hair now so there’s totally a chance it contributed!

I’ve had it before, and before 40!! Just stay positive, try to care for your hair gently, eat well, lots of greens, freshly squeezed juices, especially w lots of leafy greens, prenatal help, too, good sleep (8hrs), try not to get sick often, and avoiding stress is the most crucial! Mine has grown back in about 3-4 months after losing a good 10x10 cm patch. Good luck!
