I think one of the most important thing you didn't include is paying rental. Living with ur parents is a form of privilege.
@jamesmadison3108Ай бұрын
It isn't. Majority of young Singaporeans stay with their parents before they get married. So it's pretty normal for someone in Singapore not paying any rent.

so like that milk powder, food, hospitalization bill, transportation, telco also need include? is not a privilege ya sister, is entitlement. if i want to have a kid, i want the kid to be happy and not treat the child as a working tool.

In a normal family, i think living with parents is a form of love that cannot be measured with $$$. Allowance from children is to show their appreciation and love towards their parents, because ultimately when we die, we will still wish to pass down the assets to our next generation

Living with parent don’t need to pay much ❤

Love this! Had the same upbringing with a super frugal mum and I picked up her habits, glad to see there was no shortcuts other than working hard and spending less! 100k at 28 here and would love to see your 200l+1 story!

I got my first 100k at 23 years old. How? cos of COVID-19. I was able to work and go thru uni for 2 years+ earning 3k+ per month. I'm aiming to save 200k by next year, hopefully I can attain my goal.

Thanks for sharing Chris, can very much relate to your story of growing up in family with low financial literacy & scarcity mindset when it came to money - once I arrived to Singapore I also found that accessibility to information around personal finance is a lot easier to come around (back in 2015, now in 2024 even more so!), which helped me a lot in my personal finance journey
