Hey there, mega congrats! Can’t believe you were able to manage updating the decks, classwork, AND get a 260+ on step. I remember when you first started on this journey and I emailed you for your histology cards haha. Few questionS though, how much did the in house material help you? You said that 1/2 of your cards for “foundations” were self made. So does that mean your deck was 50k cards or so? I feel like I forgot so much class material so I’m getting worried about not keeping track of those cards I made for the class or making more cards. Every once in a while, there’s a UWORLD question on a topic that I don’t recognize at all, only to find out later I had notes on it from in house material. Sorry if I missed this and it has already been mentioned before. Also, regarding Qbanks/Resources, I find that it’s hard to learn using the workflow that everyone recommends with anki. For example, going from Pathoma/BnB straight to anki to USMLERx to UWorld. The resources/anki cards sometimes make’s a finding seem specific when it’s not. For example, I spent so much time trying to memorize the card on target cells and sickle cell anemia, only to find out later that they can be found in other anemia’s. Then when I get a question wrong on USMLERx, the next question on that topic is a completely different style of question, so I can’t test whether I truly learned from the first question. Any thoughts on how to overcome this? What caused your 20pt jump between January and March? And how were you able to do so well on your first practice test in January without completing all the blocks with your curriculum yet? Did you learn ahead? How do you efficiently find specific cards that you missed and tag them? Do you browse/search/tag after each question during your review? If you missed a question that has multiple topics, Do you tag/unsuspend all the topics mentioned on that question or just the topic of the correct answer? Lastly, do you have recommended setting for lapsed cards? Again, thank you so much and best of luck in all your future endeavors.
@AnKingMed
@AnKingMed 4 жыл бұрын
I only added about 3k cards in foundations and I suspended them right after. In house stuff helped, but not a ton. But 2-3 points on the exam can push you up quite a bit. If it was P/F, it wouldn't matter at all. On that first exam I looked up any questions in anki that were on material I hadn't covered yet. I browsed to find cards on missed questions. Takes time, but worth it! I used the settings in my recommended settings video and I'd still recommend them :)

Hi! When you says download the Step 2 deck from day 1, do you mean day one of MS1? If so, how would you recommend adding those cards into my studying for in-house exams? Should it still be 1/2 Zanki and 1/2 in-house or now 1/2 Step 2 deck and 1/2 in-house?
@AnKingMed
@AnKingMed 4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I wouldn't pattern yourself after me on that. That was only for my first 6 months. After that I only added 1-200 cards per block for in-house stuff. I would however add the step 2 cards in for your in-house exams if they're relevant

On those Monday's you would add only cards you had seen the lecture videos over correct? Say B&B cardio you would watch all the ischemia lecture videos and then unlock all the cards tagged to those lectures correct? You never put new cards in your deck that you had not covered the material first in some way correct?

Nice video! I'm a brazilian medical student and I'd like to know which anki deck you guys consider the best one to review the most relevant (in a clinical/practical/useful perspective) content of both basic science and clinical subjects. Some popular decks that I've found and tested so far are great but much more focused on the steps and on study sources that aren't common in other countries (such as UWorld, B&B...). Considering that in Brazil there aren't many popular shared decks, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you in advance!

When you set the max interval during dedicated, did you ever consider changing it so that your reviews pop-up before your scheduled exam date? How did you manage to review any cards that were scheduled to pop-up as a review after your exam date if you had a max interval set for 6 months?
@AnKingMed
@AnKingMed 3 жыл бұрын
I felt like doing questions was higher yield than trying to see all the reviews again. If there was an occasional card worth reviewing for the exam, I manually scheduled it. In the end, you should be retaining like 90% of your Anki cards on any given day regardless so the interval doesn't matter as longs as you've been doing reviews for 18 months to 2 years already.

It's because you have 3 learning steps, but only put in % for 2 (72 and 90). Try % with 72 80 90 for learning steps and 90% for lapses and see if that works

Hi! I wanna know your opinion on Soze’s master deck. Im studing for the step 1 and Im using cards made by me but I wanna take it to another level to get 260+. I would like your opinion and best advices

I can’t give an opinion on that deck. I’ve never used it. I honestly don’t think any other decks will boost your score. Practice questions are more important.

I have a question, I’ve done around 40% of Zanki and I have my exam in 2 months. I’m currently getting overwhelmed with anki, and I know some people have stopped using it since they’re becoming overwhelmed. Should I keep going or stop?
@AnKingMed
@AnKingMed 4 жыл бұрын
Rather than stop completely I would just decrease the amount of anki you are doing

As an M1 entering summer and taking step sometime next spring (early march probably), is it possible to fully mature your entire deck if I start now? Never done anki before and would like to start but IDK if I'm too late.

Yes it is! It will take a lot of effort, but its totally possible

I would definitely shoot for a high score it can’t hurt getting a high score but not scoring well definitely can hurt.

@@AnKingMed thanks so much for replying! Is there also a way to suspend due cards without converting them back to "new" cards (i.e. keep the intervals)?
@AnKingMed
@AnKingMed 4 жыл бұрын
@@deepdark795 Suspending due cards will not mess with the intervals. The only challenge is that if you unsuspend them at a later date, all the cards you suspended will now appear as "due" again because many of their due dates are passed.
