Or I should continue with just studying algebra and other basics until I get the hang of it So sorry for the long rant
@dumebikanu31803 жыл бұрын
And how many hours a day did you study
@annas-universe3 жыл бұрын
It's good to have a foundation of algebra like being able to solve (mainly linear) equations, manipulate expressions, and analyze graphs for the SAT. This involves things like the order of operations and factoring that you would learn studying algebra, but after learning the basics it's probably better to focus on SAT-specific problems since they do have a particular format, and sometimes the content on the SAT can actually be simpler than a full algebra class (although it contains some geometry and statistics as well). Best of luck! And I studied for probably less than an hour a day for about a month or two at my peak, but occasionally I would do a full practice test in one sitting which took about 4 hours. It's all about quality over quantity when it comes to studying :)

Hi! I don't really personally have any book recommendations (and I only showed a pic of Kaplan because my dad bought it in like 2016 or something before the SAT even changed..I never really used them much lol). I know a lot of people used the Erica Meltzer book for the reading section on the SAT subreddit and seem to like it, but I don't have any personal experience w it. Personally I'm not a huge fan of test prep books since none of them seem to accurately mirror the test questions well enough to be worth it, but I did use+love Prepscholar's online program (it is a lot pricier than a book though). There's a link in the description--imo it's especially good for the reading/writing sections :D

Hello! Yep--by real cb tests I mean the ones that were given as actual tests (6 of them were actual tests) or that college board itself has made/released for practice. Here's a link to most of them (you can also find some slightly more secret ones--the released QAS/SAS reports--if you do some digging on the r/sat subreddit): collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/practice/full-length-practice-tests These are the same ones you can take on Khan Academy--taking them there might be helpful if you want a built-in timer/easier job checking the tests afterwards. You are amazing! I am addicted to this channel xD.I wanted to ask if you have any online resources regarding the SATs like pdfs of books or even online premium lol ,dumb comment but yet If you already have one,that could be helpful for broke students like me.Anyways,my main question is:Is it possible to get a 1600 with khan academy alone?ofc intelligence matters somehow,but talking in general,does khan academy have everything you need?Like if you were motivated enough to use khan academy only,would you be able to make it to 1600?Thanks
@annas-universe2 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks! I don't have a ton of other free online resources besides Khan Academy to suggest, but your local library might have SAT/standardized test content--I know I checked out a Barron's book from mine once. Also, r/sat on reddit has a collection of all of the released QAS tests which is really great if you run out of official ones. I think it's possible to score a 1600 with just Khan Academy (but probably easier using all of the released College Board practice tests)--the only issue with Khan is that you'll eventually kind of exhaust the resource and use up all of their practice questions in the categories you need if you're a high scorer aiming for a 1600. I think Khan works much better at getting people from a lower score like a 1000 up to a 1400/mid-1500 range. Once you understand all of the content and are in that range, it's totally possible to score a 1600 but there's also a lot of luck and skill involved with not making careless mistakes!

@@annas-universe alright I see tysm ;and during college applications how do I put awards and honors and activities?Like do I write them in sentences or phrases .My concern is that doesn't it sound kinda like a show off and boring to college officers where students try to prove why they are best by kina like flexing their skills ,I am this,I am that winner,I am the best performer and such such.How do I avoid it look like it's a show off?and express my activities in a humble manner?I am 100% sure you have a perfect answer to this as I can see from your personality.Thanks

Do you think there is a real way to get from a 1540 to 1600 or is it just luck ?
@annas-universe3 жыл бұрын
There's definitely a LOT of luck involved, but I think familiarizing yourself as much as possible with each question format by taking as many practice tests as possible really can help you get the last bit of the way there, and verifying that there aren't any deeper comprehension issues left that you could work on :) But honestly, it's probably not worth spending a ton of time on, since colleges think of any score above about a 1550 pretty much equally
@dougd120 Жыл бұрын
The issue is that the SAT test has 15 tricks, one being exactly right, the other being exactly right as well, as well as 16 rights as 17 rights, and his 16 wrongs happen when the SAT is tricky and complicated to study and discussing the issue of either being in the present or being in the future of the present tense of something else, in particula, how one studies 4 hours per day without internet access in 5 different places of AP's.

Don't give up--you've got this! Be sure that you're understanding why you're making each mistake you make so that you can work on improving your most difficult sections/type of questions. For me the most helpful thing I did was taking as many of the real College Board practice tests as I could and recording my mistakes as I went :) Good luck!

I’m struggling to choose between AP bio and chem!! Which one is less stressful?
@Pdawg20032 жыл бұрын
For me, AP bio was way easier but I enjoyed AP Chem more. Both are very doable as long as you’re willing to put in work outside of class

Can we get the spreadsheet? if you can leave link in comment or somewhere please?

Sure--I just linked it in the description! Just note that it's probably not the best resource to really study from since I didn't know anyone else would actually see it, but feel free to use it as a template or something

@annas-universe Hi there. I am an international student. I am struggling in reading section. I think the problem has to do with my comprehension. What do you recommend to do?

Don’t know if I’ll get a response, but do you think it’s possible to go from an 1190 to 1540 in about 5 months if I try hard enough?
@xplicitgoofy10152 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could definitely get to a 1540 just study a lot and take study test
@catherineb68892 жыл бұрын
Yeah, just be very consistent and study smarter vs harder

How much time did you study for? Before your test.
@annas-universe3 жыл бұрын
Somewhere in between 50 and 150 hours (I can't remember the exact number), the bulk of that during a couple of months over the summer before my junior year
@AZASeraph2 жыл бұрын
I took a SAT practice test from college board and got a 1380 total, which isn't bad considering I hadnt ever done it before, and I got a 780 on the math

@annas-universe3 жыл бұрын
I know you can do it! You've still got some time to prepare, and plus tests will probably still be optional at a lot of colleges next year, so don't stress too much :))

Try the Scalar Learning Channel on KZbin for help with the math section. I struggled so bad with SAT maths before it but now I’m able to get at least 90-100% of the questions correct. Anna’s Channel helps too ofc :) I’ve gotten some really good tips from here. Don’t give up girl! You got this!

Thnk You. I'm non native speaker. What is the advice You Should Give Me For Reading And Writing Section?.
@annas-universe3 жыл бұрын
I would work on trying to consume as much content in English outside of the SAT as possible to adjust to all of the crazy grammar rules, idioms, etc. Try pushing yourself a bit beyond your reading comprehension with the content you’re consuming, since that’ll lead to the most improvement! Good luck :)

@annas-universe3 жыл бұрын
Nope! The SAT was always the one offered at my school, so I never ventured into ACT territory, but I've heard a lot of students score better on one over the other usually, so it might be something to consider if you're early in your prep :)

I wanna say it was around $60 for me (but it depends on where you are-you can find the exact price on college board’s website)

Hypothetically, if I study hard, could I get a 1600 with 2 years of preparation?
