One of the reasons for less variety is the chain stores tend to have their own brand stuff. However just because you may have less brands, that does not mean a lack of variety from those brands. How many different brands of the same product does anyone really need. Annoys the hell out of me seeing loads of brands of Colombian coffee, instead of a variety of coffee beans from Columbia. Ethiopian mocha limu coffee is my fave no matter what brand puts it in a bag..

Putting long hours doesn't make for efficiency, its less efficient, it burns out people. Healthcare is a profit driven industry in the US, but in Europe its a care system. I don't understand why the tax can't be shown on the label

It comes across as more of a necessity to work to work long hours, than being ambitious, you can be hard working and ambitious with working yourself into an early grave. I think your one of the few countries that have insurance companies dictating what doctor, hospital you go to, what treatment you can receive or if they will even insure you. America will not change. You speak about convenience RE food, I always make my dogs food myself, I make it in bulk 10 kilogram (22 pound) it takes me 5 hours to make and I freeze it in 1kg blocks and thaw it for use, it lasts just over 2 weeks, it's not cheaper, but I know what is in there, it means that I only put in what she likes, it actually costs me more, but she likes it and eats it all, so I have to be careful how much she gets.

Hi Ladies. I visited the US in the 1960's, and also many times since. The last time was in 2012 and the difference I felt in the people and the Country since 1960 is staggeringly scary. I will NEVER visit again. So glad I live in the UK.

You're right, the US will not change. Why should it? It's all working perfectly for those in power. Nothing is 'wrong' with it. The only people who can change it are the people like you. How else do you think we Europeans got all our benefits. We fought for them.

ive seen a video,.. cant remember the title, that talked about american healthcare and how to fix it,.. and one of the videos key takeaways was, you cant fix it, because it isnt broken, it works like intended.

small thing with the supermarkets....in the us you have Trader joe, well...that's in fact a doughter firm of ALDI. And ALDI is German..
