Stealing the bed idea, I go on track days and long trips for motorcycle trips. And I hateeeee sleeping in my truck, the e-track idea is perfect for me so I can keep the functionality of my trailer for bikes, and break it down when not needing to sleep, or when towing my snowmobiles in it

It works well, I'd just recommend getting a thick and comfy pillow top to go up there. I also need to build some sort of ladder to make access easier, but being able to break it down is a major benefit.

@@FloridaMotoTalk mine would be about 40” off the ground to clear the tail of the bikes when 4 are in my trailer, otherwise I’d have another set of track about 20” off the floor (only need enough for a twin bed, as usually I’m the nominated tow-pig for when on road trips, and everyone else piles in with others who smoke since I don’t and don’t want my truck to smell like cigarettes). Otherwise my trailer will have 2 at most in it when on a track day which leaves me about 7’ of trailer empty behind the bikes which is plenty Did you pin the boards to each side? Or just one? I’ve seen some just toss the boards in and toss the plywood ontop

@@braaapattack2937 I just put the 2x4 support pieces in the etrack bracket. The wood and bracket are stout and secure, so I didn't see any need to screw them in. Then I just cut out 2 pieces of plywood to lay over the top. I added a small lip to the front of the bed, so nothing slides off, including the plywood.

@@FloridaMotoTalk nice. I was kinda hoping that was the case! It’ll be my spring project at this point as track day season is wrapping up around here and I won’t be on any long distance trips to next year now. But now is the time to get the list together of what I need and the ideas formed! Thanks again for the help

I do alot of trail riding at different parks and been researching enclosed trailer conversions and u have a Solid simple build for what you want and need it for consider converting the v nose into a bathroom

Thanks for watching! I would love to install an actual bathroom. I didn't mention it in the video, but we also have a portable toilet and curtain up front. It's absolutely convenient to avoid long trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night and throughout the day.

I understand about that fl heat I’m here in north west Florida in the panhandle I’m looking to doing track days so this would be a great setup

Some people get really creative with these builds, but this is the most basic way to get the job done. Just don't skip the insulation!

Do a mini split this off season! They're so much stronger and quieter. I got my trailer down to 68 in 98 degree weather this weekend at tally!

Thats wild. I was really looking into mini's at first, but the wiring process scared me off. May have to reconsider now.

Definitely worth the effort. I learned a lot while researching it lol. The Mrs was watching TV curled up in a blanket. Didn't even have it set as low as it could go

How did you measure your shelving up front before you cut the plywood? Did you make a template or something? Looks like they came out perfect! Not a wood guy myself.
@FloridaMotoTalk
@FloridaMotoTalk 14 күн бұрын
I don't know anything about woodwork myself, but we started off by trying to measure the angles. That failed, so we made a template using cardboard and tape. That got us close, then we just made small cuts after that to get the final product.

Do you remember what portable ac unit you got
@FloridaMotoTalk
@FloridaMotoTalk Ай бұрын
A Whynter 12,000 BTU dual hose AC unit that I found on Amazon at the time. I went with this option because of the quick and easy install. However, I think at this point if I were to do it again, I would go ahead and jump into mini split units for the extra cooling power.

Only every time I load/unload the bike lol. Gotta start wearing my helmet under the bunkbed.

Is the $7000 price including the trailer or is that just materials?
@FloridaMotoTalk
@FloridaMotoTalk 2 ай бұрын
I bought the trailer for about 5k, but I've probably really spent closer to 3k in materials (wood, flooring, e-tracs, etc). So, about 8k is better cost estimate.. Still a lot cheaper than an actual toy hauler.
