I inherited a vintage Oregon chain grinder some time ago, but have never used it. Your tutorial has given me the inspiration to dig it out and set it up. I am in the process of re-doing part of my shop, just so I have an area dedicated to saw work, and that will be part of the set up.

I use wax on my wheels after sharpening each tooth. Dissipates the heat really well, prevents the wheel from clogging, and I rarely need to dress the stone. Picked up the idea from my Granberg sharpener instructions. I also keep a separate sharpener set up just for doing rakers. A less expensive grinder of course.

some grinding compound you can pick up for sale is just that: wax with a little graphite mixed in.

Hi,I wish you would of shown your raker grinding method. I have a precision vice I use that I adjust for the bar teeth to sit in and with a dial indicator measure the cutter hight and slide it over to the raker.All other gages leave me guessing exactly what the hight is.

Hi,when you redress the wheel between chain sides you lose your lenth adjustment ,dont you ? Do you try to keep your adjustments the same for each side ? Do you ever clean your grinder or chains ?

Redress does not effect tooth length. Clean chain helps to redress less often.

The wax also seems to keep the grinding dust out of the air. A mask should be worn if grinding often.

(This is an example) You need to run two screws into a board. Do you grab the screwdriver or the cordless? Why? I have an open challenge to anyone that wants to send me a chain they think can keep up with my grind. No restrictions. It can be square or round or anything they wish. I am willing to keep their names out of it on the video. Beware though. My chain is really fast. My chain is faster than anything you can buy out of the box. No hand filled chain has come even close yet. 3/8 chain 74 drivers. Same saw and bar is getting used in all testing.

I recently bought a Oregon 410. An came from a harbor freight sharpener. It was nice but the motor started crapping out from to much use. So I figured to go better. An this Oregon is badass machine. I'm so glad I bought one.
