Great video Katie! You should try looking into the biodegradable peanuts from Uline. You get 12 cubic feet for, like $20 and they're not all styrofoam so they can literally be melted down in water. My customers really appreciate not having to throw out so much un-recycleable styrofoam. And they're pretty cool to watch them melt into nothing in the tub! :)

Katie I do about the same but REFUSE to go to the post office. I just schedule a pickup during my regular mail delivery and it's free! I also live a ridiculous amount of time away from the closest post office. They have to come to my house every day anyway, so make use of that. They pick the packages up from my front porch and off they go. Saves time, saves gas, saves money.

The joy and happiness is just spilling out through the screen! :-) I see another viewer has mentioned Uline for the peanuts, but have you looked into them for the boxes as well? My husband and I have our own business, and if we're not using either the USPS flat rate or regional boxes, we're using boxes purchased from Uline. Since they have several shipping facilities, there's bound to be one closer to you than the Georgia one our supplies come from.

Have you ever considered shredding paper for packing? I know your large family has got to go through a lot of paper trash that can be shredded in a shredder lol. Good job for your younger siblings lol. You can feel good about recycling at the same time lol

When running low on packing materials, I advertise in the WANTED section of CRAIGSLIST. Usually get huge bags of the stuff for FREE. Well worth the drive of say 1/2 hour to pick them up. Now that I have been doing this for over a year, I just call the business and ask if they have any I can pick up. They often save them just for me and are happy not to put them into the trash bin.

How do you keep the soaps from melting? I live in Florida and it will be close to 90 degrees from now until October. Is there a special trick to keeping it from melting. Taking into consideration that the post office or UPS will deliver during early afternoon and the person might not get home from work for 2-4 hours after it arrives.

1) Use pirate ship. It can import from etsy and it's cheaper. 2) Schedule free USPS next day pickup. You can do it right from pirateship. 3) Adhesive labels are dirty cheap.

How do you ship each what is the most cost effective way. I know you said Post Office and obviously Priority Box is Priority. But what does your average 5x4x2 box cost to ship and what type of shipping.

Ok, when someone puts an order on your site it automatically charges shipping. So, when you send them the package how do you know if you charged them the correct shipping ?

+Grace B in Canada I can go on the Canada post website and calculate the shipping. Measure the length by width of box I weigh it in my scale that you use for soap making and it calculates. Once you've done it a few times you'll just know

***** sorry I've been busy this week. I figure out on the website what the shopping of the box is and it's pretty accurate I've done it so many times I just kind of know. You calculate the box on the website and then you add that to your order order plus shipping equals what they owe you. Or send it out cod they pay on the other end.

you can go on line and have usps pick up for you..also Paypal.com/shipnow is awsum and easy and cheap to ship as well. yup i do alot of shipping for along time..lol I also reuse all my peanuts and bubble wrap, I feel like a addict and get excited when i get boxes full. I have 100 gal bags saved up..I hate to have to buy that stuff, especially when you ship daily it gets expensive (y)
