Shooting lower scores and reducing your handicap doesn't always come as a result of making swing changes, the way that you mange your game on the course can save you a significant number of shots and help reduce those scores.
In this video I play holes 15 through 17 at The Forest of Arden and talk you through my thought process on every shot.
What you will see is that I am able to shoot under par for these 3 holes albeit without hitting any 'perfect' golf shots or even aiming towards any of the flags.

Great video Chris. Can you do this but maybe factor in the average g9lfers distances as frankly most golfers do not hit 3 wood 190 let alone a 7 iron.
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely, I think the points made are still valid though, if I was hitting a 3 wood 190 rather than the 7 iron nothing would change, still have to aim accordingly, factor in the trouble etc would be just swinging a different club 👍

I get the point of course and you are correct, I was shocked. Looks as if you are fighting the hooks off the tee and maybe on approaches. That’s quite a bit of right aim on really what looks like wide open fairways. That and the nine iron in the first hole going that far right. My take, one doesn’t always have it and when you don’t do not fight it on the course. That’s what ranges are for. Good point and point taken as well.

in the third person; we like it Chris you've got plenty of great advice, yet as an instructor from the John Jacob school schools we would say if the troubles on the left take the less lofted club your libel to fade and conversely if the troubles on the right take the less lofted club you're more likely to drive straight or draw! that's good for three or four shots around without changing your swing! Callaway they just say you can't fight physics! LOL again I admire your work you're doing great for us thank you! p.s. you could've used him in your dispersion on the first par three to greater advantage!!! p.s. carry-on!!! A lot of us would love to have that 180 mile an hour ball speed

I also have found that I consistently shoot in the 70's if I'm not "specific" with the target. I know Tiger says he goes aggressive at his spot but I've always preferred Mo Normans philosophy of feeling the ball to the hole. I actually play each shot as if it's a putt. I see the fairways and feel the ground on tee shots the same way I putt. That's just me though and I know that it might not work for everyone. I'm 100% a feel player.

Hi Chris, much like many of the golfers that watch your videos, we don't hit the ball good. Slicers or wristee hookers, duff or teeth shots here and there we battle to keep it in play. How do we shoot better scores ? Personally your tip on been targeted specific on each shot👍. I also don't know what my carry distance or where my miss falls, it goes all over. I can play a good round but somehow just a few holes blows my scores, putting not the best either

Always like to break up the round into a series of 3 holes as part of my course management. Helps to stay focused on doing the best on each 3 hole series regardless of how I played the previous 3 holes. Shot commitment is critical. When I flub a shot it’s almost always because a doubt crept in. And when I am committed, invariably, the shot turns our reasonably well.

I don't like using the line on the ball if there is a speed variable. Different speeds will change the line so I've never understood that concept. Maybe if the putt is three feet square and I'm not concerned about speed or if it's a very straight feeling putt.

Was that shot you hit out to the right of where you were aiming on 16 because the ball was slightly below your feet? Had you factored that in? How to you adjust for shots above or below your feet?
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 жыл бұрын
It was a touch below but not enough to cause the ball to go that far right.... although I do very much appreciate you looking for excuses for me, I like that very much 😂😂

this is exactly what I wanted to see someone do. but only thing is all your shots were off the fairway. didn't even cover recovery shots. that mostly what a majority of us need.

Yeah yeah. I just wish I could toe a 3 wood and then hit a ropey 7 iron to 15 feet on a par 5. And have a tap in birdie. Not really useful to the high handicapper.
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Hey James, who is this not useful? Say I hit driver bit went through the same process, then change the 7 to a 4 irons, the process would be the same. Where are the hazards, where do I want to be, what’s my typical miss, where should I aim? These are the questions you should ask if your a 20 handicap or a pro. Appreciate the distances v’s club may be different but I personally believes there are some valuable lesson within this video 👍
