Thanks for the great suggestions! @Derek xPaPaDx Frampton its important to make the gear look good so people are more incentivized to actually wear the gear, even better if it becomes "trendy" to wear gear like helmets have semi recently with all the crazy graphics. Obviously it should be as safe as possible but it also needs to feel good and look good
@authmal2 жыл бұрын
As a male, I gotta say that my wife isn't stoked about the availability of gear for her to choose from. She's not a super slim girl, and it seems like the vast majority of jackets/pants we can find would not fit her at all. She can find a lid and gloves, and I doubt we'll be able to find her good riding shoes/boots (she has problems finding regular shoes small enough to fit) that would do. Glad to see more female oriented gear, and think that we need to do more to be inclusive of women riders.
@PovilasPanavas2 жыл бұрын
@Derek xPaPaDx Frampton I guess my point could be adjusted to this: Men are used to it and wouldn't notice/complain about it. I do not say that there might not be a lack of choices for women. I'm saying men are used to it.
@liv00032 жыл бұрын
@@PovilasPanavas so?????? What does all your posting have to do with the shortage of women's motorcycle clothing?? And then it's not even true that there isn't a vast choice of "normal" clothing for men because you can find everywhere any kinds of men's clothing stores that sell all kinds of clothes for any style at all price ranges with many different brands and lots of choices. While motorcycle clothing for women is really poor, with very little choice and poorer quality than the male counterpart and also a few sizes available

late to the reply box but personally for a beginner I would suggest going for a full gauntlet and full boot, reason being is IMO you're more likely to drop the bike or fall off. protection of your ankle, hand/wrist is priority. when you're more season then I'd transition to something like a riding shoe and short gloves when you're more comfortable on your bike. so to me, it is definitely better to be geared as a new rider than semi.

So glad you said it took you 2 weeks to break in the REAX gloves! Bought the same model (but white & black) recently & just tried on a ride--but cut the ride short as I didn't feel comfortable trying to control my Vespa. I've been using a pair of SHIMA gloves that felt great from the start! I just started wearing armored gloves for my recently acquired 150cc Vespa. Used to wear full fingered leather palm bicycling gloves with my little 50cc scooter. Also got an armored shirt (pink, from Skull Riderz) & a jacket for rain, and will try those leggings! Though I do carry more of my own padding now 😜, armor on the knees is always good at any speed. And I will try other ways to break the REAX gloves before trying out in a ride again!! And for more color, I enjoy my fabulous purple ankle boots with orange soles by Johnny Fluevog!

Useful video for the ladies. It's kinda mindblowing for me to see that there is fewer options in women's riding gear there, then here in The Netherlands. I feel like from what i've seen around several stores here, that there's quite a lot more section and options for ladies. Rev'it, Dainese, Alpinestars have great options afcourse. But also a little cheaper options are available for starter riders. Also there's a lot of women and men getting into motorcycling here. Oh and let's not forget that unisex gear has quite some options as well.

You need a bike you can tour on/do long rides. It is time. There used to be the most awesome motorcycle shop 3 miles from my house. They had gear, accessories, a wall of gloves, a tire shop. I used them for years, but they closed up a few years back and I’m really bummed. It’s pretty much just Cycle Gear for me now. They’re further away and don’t have the variety. They have almost no gear I like really. But as a guy, it’s way easier to find gear. Although I gotta say, most of it looks dorky and baggy. It’s got to be hard for a gal. You seem to mange pretty well. Women’s gear (and men’s frankly) has come a long way in the last 20 year, but still has a long way to go. I wish there was a Revzilla store in Silicon Valley. They have a lot of stuff. I know you can order and the return policies are great. I’ve used that to find gear for a cross country tour before. I did like 3 returns. But it’s kind of a pain and I’d really rather just try stuff on and buy it. Old school, I know. NO POCKETS? R E J E C T ! I would hate having to carry a purse if I were a woman. I’ve never been a fan of big armor on the knuckles for my gloves. You land palms out, not knuckles out and the armor sticks out WAY too much. Siri makes great boots, but they are narrow. I would never wear a half boot. I like my ankles. It’s too easy to roll your ankle in the simplest get offs. Even like forgetting to put your kickstand down type get offs.

So I recently had to get new gear all over again because I took a little slide outside of Boston on i95 at the start of June and ended a short road trip. Of course that meant *shopping*. But even in the handful of years I bought what I was wearing what I was when I went down, I was surprised to see how much changed. Ece22.06 came out, MIPS came out. Everything doubled in price. It took me almost 2 months since the crash (happened June 4th and its July 23 now) to find gear. Wound up with the same touring jacket and pants I had because I can't find anything else I like for distance. I can't find gloves I like right now and I'm super picky about fit and everyone is going to have a different option on that, so let's all agree to disagree. I wound up in a MX helmet because I won't settle for less than ece22.06 and MIPS and they didn't have anything else that would fit and I was running out of time to get back on the proverbial horse. I also am now "that guy" because I now ride with an airbag vest. I still have my touring boots I crashed in and they are more than serviceable. A good nod to the durability of good boots. My opinion is it's good to see more brick and mortar stores popping up. It's hard to get a feel for how something online would fit when you try something on that feels great in the store that then kills your hands after 200 miles. And that's coming from someone that isn't an old man, but I have found my place on the seat of a Goldwing and I ride with a travel wardrobe full of riding gear I've gathered in my close to 20 years in the saddle so I can change out throughout the day depending on heat and weather conditions.

Do you have an aesthetic style for gloves that you’re Looking for or your primary concern is fit and feel and safety? Need cold or warm weather gear? For warmer weather there’s a glove I can potentially recommend if you don’t mine it being function over form majorly and in the $100 range.
@Psikeomega2 жыл бұрын
@@Fee.1 it's less about aesthetics and more about fit and safety. I have odd shaped hands and it's hard to find something that actually fits that actually provides protection. Boots should not be a "maybe later" thing. Boots were the first piece of motorcycle specific gear invented, because bike falls often result in foot/ankle injury. Good motorcycle boots have stronger toe boxes and far more ankle protection than combat boots or Docs. Additionally in a crash, that engine or exhaust can easily end up resting on your foot or ankle, so it's important that the boots be made with materials and / or have enough thickness to reduce the heat transferred to you. The really high quality (and cost, so out of the conversation for this recommendation list) have additional stabilization that help to keep your ankle from twisting. Like most pieces of motorcycle gear, you need to make sure you're getting good, protective gear, and not just "costume" gear.

Doooont skip on shoes! Beginers usually injure lower body. I thank the lord I starred in what u called too much because it saved my foot when bike fell on my foot in the worst way. Since I had such high protection I was able to push my bike 1 mile.. since my cluch was broken but not my foot. Rayne F9 talks about how he broke his toes since he didn't have toe protector. Injuring ur leg or foot means for many people u can't work.. it's not like an arm where u still have a fully functioning 2nd arm. 1 thing goes wrong with ur leg and ur crippled at least for a little bit. Don't skip out just wait and save if u have to

I order short pants in 3" larger waist size because I keep gaining 25# in the winter.. Then I just wear a belt if I get my weight back under control .
