Instead of baby wipes in between showers, I make 16 ounces of peppermint tea, put it in a spritzer, and clean up. Smells so good, does not have to be rinsed off, and in conjunction with a washcloth, is clean. It is very clean and no need for creams.

I've never heard of this method and may give it a try, but I really love using a tiny bit of Dr. Bronner's in a spray bottle with mostly water. Same concept as your tea; there's no need to rinse, it's very effective, and I smell great afterwards.

I was living in my Subaru (hence a boy named Sue) for almost a year and used one of those water pumps and a pop up privacy tent to shower in. I loved being able to shower and feel clean even when staying at a campsite for 2 weeks straight. I never figured out how to make money on the road so now I’m a truck driver and the truck stop showers aren’t too bad. Thank you so much for being mindful of truckers and mentioning us! Also, being a trucker is an amazing option for people who want to be nomads, you get to travel with your pet and get paid without having to pay for your own fuel or maintenance on your vehicle.

I'm a truckdriver too Brooke so thanks for mentioning us and being considerate of our time. Although I always take my own items the major chains do supply towels and soap in a dispenser in the shower. And some have been known to give you a cheap toothbrush etc if needed and you ask.

When you go in you scan the QC on your app to check in. Heading straight to the locker room is basic because you’d want to put your gym bag in a locker while you work out anyway. No one will notice if you just go in to shower. Sometimes I just got in for the massage chairs 😂😂

My grandmother hardly ever showered and washed at the tap and had a long washcloth to wash her back. She always smelled nice of soap and I think we should stop judging others by their hygiene. For example, I shower way too! often because of osteoarthritis pain. But my skin is not happy about that.

Good video. I live in drought stricken California and try to minimize my water usage by taking only one shower a week. Between showers I take two to three sponge baths (I can wash my hair, clean my body and shave on less than three gallons of water). I also use adult size (8X12) wipes between showers and sponge baths.

I've done dishpan sponge baths in a small tent and gotten reasonably clean. 2 dishpans, one with soap, one for rinse. Do your pits and privates, and then you can clean your limbs, hair, and face outside. I personally hate baby wipes for bath substitutes. I don't feel clean with them, but the Scrubbz shower wipes are awesome. You get 25 wipes in a package, which gives you 12-14 "showers," a lot cheaper than a coin or truckstop shower. I don't live on the road, but I spent days/weeks at a time tent and van camping in my younger days, and the dishpan baths is what worked for me, along with a coin shower every 5 days or so. (I like being fresh every day, lol!) Scrubbz are new to me, and I use them now at home when I'm running late, or run out of time for a full on shower. ✌️❤️🚙🛁🚿

I'm not a van life person I just live in a super cheap house in Mexico with NO hot water and with limited power I'm also in the desert so they shut off the high pressure water from the city randomly but thankfully it's usually 1 or 2 days a week (I do have a tinaco). I just use the cheap showerhead that charges usb that you dunk in hot water (which I get by boiling the kettle 1000 times lol) needless to say this time of year when it's cold I mostly use baby wipes unless I have a hot date lol but by the time I've boiled the kettle 1000 times I'm warm enough just to take a cold shower anyway... I have considered putting in a solar system but for now I have many things to pay for and it's only cold 1-2 months of the year. Honestly my skin has never looked better I just use the very little scent baby wipes which I order by the case they are also needed during hurricane season and I have room to store them.

The cow story is hysterical....that heart pounding instant awake moment is always scary!! When I car camp my cats(s) are my watch dogs....they even growl when they don't like "a car" for whatever reason....we know their sounds. My cat will wake me up and be very still and quiet....then you know she is serious...and yes you should always be private and be aware even of women. It's good to know others around town and impress upon them your name, though. Good to have friends.

Joolca makes a propane hot shower called HotTap V2 that can draw water from a creek or lake or whatever. VanCityVan Life did a video about it and I plan on getting one for my cross country trip this summer. It's a little pricey at $299 for the base model and $450 for the one with the pump and filter.

My water main is broken at my small house. It leaks. Until it is repaired, I am turning it off at the street. I fill the tub and several pitchers/bowls/pots every other day. I boiled water on the stove and did a sponge bath from the bathroom sink for my torso and really washed my face well. “Marine” showers work. Ya do whatcha gotta do to stay clean! (Also showering at my daughter’s place weekly.)

Back when I was a dirtbag climber, I used a sun shower (5 gallons). If the sun was not available, I'd boil water and add that to room temperature water in the sun shower until it's the right temperature. Of course, I had the luxury of camping in the forest, so I could hang the sun shower from a tree branch and get naked in the woods. Of course winter time ain't gonna work.

Honestly they are ALL hit or miss lol. I’ve been in planet fitness’s that literally look like spas and have like waterfall showers and others don’t even have hot water lol. I did 2 and a half years living in a vehicle and didn't shower for probably 12 months at one point. So how did I keep clean? It's a no brainer, I used baby wipes 80 per pack, could make those last a full month at a stretch just don't clean your whole body every day but you got to clean the bits every day arm pits also. Actually it is easy enough to use 6 wipes per clean. I also got myself one of those portable hoses to put on a single tap found it in a hardware store, camping stores have them also. It was my fav party joke "I haven't showered for a year". My girlfriend when I told her that as a joke said "but you smell good?" She looked puzzled, Those things are $2 a pack of 80 where I live, so it was really cheap.

I have two sets of car keys, so I can leave my car running, in park, with the emergency brake on, and with the power windows completely closed and off. (My car has a toggle that disables all windows but the driver’s and a friend made me a fitted wood block to put over that one.) Then I have signs in a folder next to my seat at all times that I stick in the windows to let passers by know that the heat/AC is on and that he’s perfectly comfortable.

Which is one thing , but you have not really presented any recipes for this smaller type living quarters or what will last. A fast food junky myself I force myself to eat healthy the day after I blow it all....my son will spend hours cooking....friends used to be so surprised by my very healthy meals way back but now- hey, 7-11 has pizza and chili hotdogs!! Why bother! You don't even need a microwave to cook ramen or instant rice...you can get ultra hot water at most gas stations or McDonald's...five mins and voila!! Or as in our camping experiences...you might be too hungry to cook at the last minute...so here I want to share this great recipe you can make ahead and eat with whatever meat you cook or buy....:2 cans of Garbanzo beans, 1/4 cup chopped fine cilantro, Three carrots preferably cut crinkle cut but we just cut rounds most times One very large hard but ripe tomatoes or several smaller ones cut up into half inch cubes or larger . Pour all into flat casserole plastic container and pour in one bottle of Newman's own original dressing(NOT THE OLIVE OIL VERSION..) SSimetimes you will need to add some salt or garlic salt and a teaspoon of sugar....Newman's really varies on taste. In this flat casserole these should be just about covered in salad oil. Put in frig or stream or cool place and leave for at least four hours before turning...or overnight and turn again before you eat. Needless to say this is one of those things you will not be consuming all the dressing...I have twice taken this to work where someone asked to taste this salad only to have them eat my entire salad!!! It's a very gratfyibg, juicy delicious concoction so easy to make in less than ten minutes and have it all ready for the big meal.....the veg's absorb the dressing...too good to be true!!
