It's not quite time to start sowing yet but it's good to be organised when the time does come! So join me and see how I sort my seeds, before sowing time arrives.
This clip would be nicely complemented by some of my upcoming demos - on sowing sweet peas, sowing annuals and sowing biennials. You can book on each of these individually or if you wanted to do all three we've a discounted bundle you might like www.commonfarmflowers.com/pro...

I agree. Getting your hands in the earth and creating a garden can help anyone feeling low and isolated. Its saved me from giving up after 23 yrs of chronic pelvic nerve pain due to endometriosis and a butcher of a surgeon. I would have given up but going out and seeing all the colours of the rainbow, that i grew from tiny seeds, makes me look forward to tomorrow and what might have happened overnight. Your friend is doing a wonderful thing by helping small horticultural groups. I'd love to do something similar and teach about gardening, too. Seed swapping is a great way to share a variety of plants.

I just wanted to say thank you for your amazing channel. you have inspired me to get going. I love grow seeds but not very good at it. I am struggling to come to terms with losing our Son. Like your friend who husband committed suicide that is what my son did last October, I feel like not doing anything because my world has not the same, and the big part of Me has gone forever, but I need to carry on because I have my husband and my other son I come across it accidentally because my husband was watching something and just put it on and I love listening to you said it is very important for everybody to talk about mental health and support every small charity as we need to talk about it so thank you Happy gardening 🤗

I need topay attention to your tips, Georgie. I always sow too many seeds and then am left scrabbling around and juggling plants to make room. I just get carried away with it all- i simply adore seed sowing. I have sown peppers, aubergines, onions and early brassicas and also sweet peas, as i don't sow in Autumn, so far. I do try to sow a few extra veg to donate to the food bank. I will make it my new year resolution 2025 to limit and slow down my seed sowing as per your advice. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience 😃Happy gardening x

I feel like a caged tiger at the moment, holding myself back on seed sowing, but I've succumbed to chillis and aubergines under a grow light with heat, just to feel like I'm growing 🤣, oh, plus the onions, leeks and cauliflowers on a windowsill on a propagator 😃

Craspedia. Not a great crop for you last time you grew it apparently Georgie so try it as a hardy annual next year. Mine are always stronger and many have perennialised! It's a tiny golden ball pop of colour which is fun and people (especially florists) love. Makes a reasonable plant in year one but not highly productive.

Your charity idea is intriguing and I will consider it although there are challenges. One, we don’t have a horticultural group/club/society locally and the date would have to be changed because it’s still inhospitable to plants here in the mountains of North Idaho the beginning of May. I was wondering if I were to signup for one of your classes will the conversion of dollars to pounds work automatically? Thank you, TeresaSue.

❤. This heart was a test, it seems I’ve lost the comment I meant to send so I’ll restate it here. I find your charity proposal intriguing and I will consider it, but I would have to change it up a bit. One, we haven’t any horticultural club/society etc. anywhere locally and two, we would have to do it the first part of June because our climate is so inhospitable. I wanted to know if I signed up for one of your classes how the exchange from dollars to pounds worked. Thank you so much, TeresaSue.
@theflowerfarmer
@theflowerfarmer 6 ай бұрын
Hi TeresaSue - yes definitely hold your sale later if May too early - and I think if you book a workshop with me it'll show on your order how much you pay in $$ rather than ££. It's a straight exchange according to whatever the bank decrees on the day you book - there's no surcharge for dollars or euros or whatever - the website just translates the price into dollars and you pay dollars - I hope that makes sense? xxx

Your issue may be viability - if you do sow it sow more thickly than you would usually as you won't get the 95% germination rate you should from fresher seed. A lot of people happily sow two year old seed but I would say that was pretty edge of the envelope for reliable germination x Good luck xxx
