Actually I played eve solo most of the time. But the PVP options is limithed if you are solo, everything else is doable if you are solo... Not because you cant pvp if you want, but most likely you will face multiple opponents, so you really need to know when should you engage a fight (and even more when not to, what is 99%of the time). But if you like to do spreadsheets you can make billions of isk (ingame money) per day if you have the capital (which is a lot even in eve's standard, it was like a mouth of gametime per day back then when I played the game - 20$ worth of real money) just by sitting in a station a buying and selling things. If you like spreadsheets, charts and calculations then most likely you'll enjoy it. I did, and made so much money just in two mouth I was able to fund my game for years (but yeah, I'm a programmer to so I wrote an analyzer script to make the buys and sells for me. So I made even more money.) And actually I was able to manipulate the whole market by a lot. They say if you know the eve's economy, than you can go to real stock market. PS: There wasnt 1v1 arenas back then.
@mobiyus32825 жыл бұрын
Scott should have added some precision to that statement. You technically can play solo, it's not that the game won't boot up if you're alone, but he should have said that the for most, the enjoyment of the game drops drastically if you are not part of a player-run group. It is totally possible to play solo, it's just more challenging in many ways to do so. Some people like it that way

Good for you Scott, I just don't understand how people can suggest others play these type of games. You mentioned World of Warcraft, these games have a very negativeness to them. You simply are choosing to do nothing with your free time when you choose to play them, when there are so many hands on things people should be doing outside of the house. I played WoW for almost 10 years and water away so much of my life, a finite thing and for what? I have nothing to show for it. Nothing tangible. I just hope whoever is reading this knows that after it is all done, there is nothing left but an empty space, a water space in your life. But I don't want to leave in that note. It was an independent family-oriented board started to support and encourage interest in the Boy Scouts of America. It offered the usual BBS fare, message boards, downloads, and “door” games. Of the last, by far the most popular was Trade Wars. TW must have been one of the direct ancestors of Eve Online. Although only one person could play at a time (we only had a single phone line), the game was an on-going battle between scores of players. Most of the callers who played TW would max out their session time in the game. Ahh, the “good old days” before the internet.

@@JosePineda-cy6om Your post shows you know very little of the game Eve Online. There are only 2 Gold magnates left in the game. And the high rollers of the game were offering a matching price to the one Scott paid. Scott BOUGHT a valuable item that will only go up in value - Kelon donated the plex to charity! There's a big difference. So I say again: "Kelon Darklight is the true hero in this tale of charity. He was the one who donated the plex, not Scott."

Cheers Brother! I was silently hoping you picked up a Guardian-Vexor, but a Gold Magnate is super badass! I've been playing just as long as you, maybe longer even. I was part of building (one of the) first player owned stations in PNQY, where the tribute to my pal Vile Rat happened. I was there when Steve went boom! ASCN was the big dog then. I play a while, take a break, and I've been away now for about a year. I should be training my skills... This account here on YT is one of my primary accounts on EvE actually. EVE is certainly an addiction, one that's hard to beat. So deep and fascinating in all aspects. It's sadly been getting dumbed down IMHO.
