How I Spooled My Gomexus Jigger!

I Decided To Pre-Spool My New Gomexus SX450 From Vernon Over at Gomexus USA!
So what are my plans on how i'm going to use this reel? It was designed for vertical jigging & to be affordable yet powerful. So jigging off the boat will be its main usage. Also trolling the shallow shorelines to get to the spots. Lastly i'll be shoreline casting this reel for Trevally Jacks & Bonefish.
This could be a multi-purpose reel. So choosing the right combinations of line was important. It still may need to be "tweaked" a bit but this will be my starting point. I think pier fishing the flats will be good using this reel so adding the monofilament top shot was important. Used a uni-to-uni knot to tied the 40lb braided mainline to the monofilament top shop. Will try casting this on land before going out fishing. Need to configure the weights needed.

the reel goes into gear by just turning the handle. when you cast with the large T handle there is a possibility of it going into gear during the cast

I already figured out how far i need to go to disengage it without it backlashing or engaging while casting. I casted that reel all day to get the feel of it the day after i made this 2nd video. It actually casts pretty good with only a 4oz or a 5oz bank. First time i ever casted a dedicated jigging reel. I had mentioned this to Vernon of Gomexus USA & he sent me the reel to try. The winds were howling directly into my face of a pier casting directly into the wind. Across from me was a small island & i only needed to place my casts exactly in-between the island & where i was standing. Not a single cast bird-nested or caused the gearing to engage. Counting the "notches" past the setting told me what i needed to know. Now i really know this SX450 very well. For all its features i'm impressed by its performance. Simple to use. Feels comfortable in the palm of my hand. I could even use it for my inshore trolling reel getting to my jigging spots. One of the reasons i Uni to Uni a mono section onto the braid mainline. Also i can use it for tossing a bait off a pier (that video coming-up).

How will you be using it? Off a boat bottom jigging? Or surface boat jigging trolling around Fads?

@@deznes06 Yes sir, that was the primary purpose for this model. It also has a good feel in the palm of your hand & holds a decent amount of braid as well. Heard there's a new model as well.

And the MSRP is very fair. That might throw a lot as most are trained that jiggers aren't cheap. I've since figured out how to cast it off piers with no line issues. I top shot mine with braid.
