Love your commentary bud. your ramp is great! I built a few myself and if you build them to look pretty they only thing extra you get is the price tag. i can really relate to the fact it takes time to build confidence and experience to do a good whip as Im just getting started. watched a lot of video's and your down to earth explanation is perfect. thanks.

t's mostly leaning the handle bars once your in the air. A good way to think about it is if lean the bars one way the rear tire will want to go the other way. This works to start whips (leaning the bars / bike off the face of a jump or right after take off) it also works for bringin your whips back. It's all in the bars.

Thanks man yeah I agree with you I don't use the bike much to whip. Next year I'm going to work on using the bike more right aft er i leave the ramp to throw it more backwards. Ill have some metal ramps next year to practice on so my whips are gonna be so dope next year.

Wow! That's a really unique whip!! I find it cool because from the POV it seems as if you only use your body and not the bike. Makes it look easy, too easy haha

I lean the bars and turn my shoulders i use my legs to guide the rear a bit some times.
@falkben11 жыл бұрын
great video! i can see it takes time, like years to perfect. Just getting into jumping so eventually my confidence will come. The falklands needs your ramp design! lots of natural jumps but too many peat bogs and rocks!

While not very insightful, this POV definitely makes it easy to better understand the physics of a whip.

Nice video, good commentary! I've been working on mine the past few years. Definitely not great jumps at the track to practice on, too low and fast. Consequently my scrubbing technique is pretty good, however when I try to whip the bike I end up really low and sideways, scrubbing the jump lol. Any ideas?? I'm thinking it's mostly where I'm practicing that's throwing me off..

I have a jump where I can whip and the landing goes off to the right so I can whip and I don't have to worry about bringing the bike back.. It's only a 30 foot jump. I wanna try to whip on a bigger jump but afraid I won't be able to get the bike back. Does it just come back naturally or do you have to actually use some muscle to get it back?

@ZATCEPChannel11 жыл бұрын
awesome vid man, much more helpful than all those RC4 or JM2 how to's! I got a question though, did you train your whip on a big jump right away, because your ramp is decently big one? I don't have one that big on my local track- you can check it in my vids (I couldn't paste a link here) so I wonder if the size of the jump matters (should I practice it on my jump (circa 7-8 m) or take to bigger jumps?) also any tips on what I do wrong would be welcome (my first year riding).

This might be a stupid question but what foot do you push on if your doing say a whip to the right?
@RyanBacheldorFMX9 жыл бұрын
Your foot? Don't use your feet... you can lean off to one side of the bike that would technically be leaning on one peg more than the other. But it's honestly all I leaning the bars.

nice vid, not to be a know it all but try hanging your ass on the under side of the bike, it helps alot. i strugle alot with that on left whips but for some reason i just naturally hang under the bike on rite whips and my rites are alot better.
@RyanBacheldorFMX9 жыл бұрын
Yes your right my man that definitely helps!! Carving up the ramp helps with that as well the two together are awesome 👍
@VainCaine11 жыл бұрын
bottom line is.... Unless your riding a couple days a week for years and years, your not gonna be able to whip it for shit. I always bragged because I could whip it flat both directions on point. after tearing my rotator cuff twice, blowing out my knee (surgery), breaking both arms, taking bout 2 years off the bike I've noticed that my right whips aren't as hard or flat as they were and are harder to bring back. just part of the game tho.
