I wish I could see and work with you. Your to far though. I’m in Jacksonville, Florida. I’m also a teacher, currently completing my second bachelors in special education and I also have a special needs toddler 🥰 he’s my motivation to get as much knowledge as possible! Also, I would like to open my small school one day. What the process, cost and how long it took? I have so many questions 😂

Brithney, I am going to be doing a video series on how it all happened for me. Please keep an eye out. My goal is to drop a video each Tuesday around 7:45pm. Also, if you are on IG I am @theLDeducator and FB Cindy Lumpkin, The LD Educator. Let’s connect. I would love to answer as many of your questions as possible. Also, my hubby and I use to visit Jacksonville a lot. Our spiritual dad use to pastor a church out there. We don’t get there as much any more, but maybe we can connect one day if we do. Blessings!!

I love this video! I appreciate you saying that teaching is a calling. I have been teaching for 23 yrs. I was asking God to lead me in the direction I needed to go to open my school. He gave me the name and the vision. I told God that I have no idea what to do, nor the steps to take and I came across your series. I am excited. Thank you for opening up and sharing.

AHHHH I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS! I am about to open a small school down in the Valdosta area. We are a military family inbound this December and they do not have a school equipped to handle our daughter. It is a little different from what you're doing but more the same than you may imagine. Their gifted programs do not carry the children the way they should. For example; our daughter is 5 years old and academically in the 5th grade but she is FIVE socially and emotionally. Their plan is to put her in kindergarten and have a 40 minute pull out 3 times a week. She is not a shy wallflower type. She will end up hating school and herself..... Anyway, I am going Montessori style for lower elementary (grades 1-3). We aren't opening until 6 Jan. and I have SO MUCH TO GET DONE! I already have a list of desperate parents waiting and I feel for each and every one of them and their babies. I would love all of your advice. I am going to go watch the rest of your videos. Thank you for doing this!

Public schools definitely limit what we can do. We are so focused on the state tests and you know all of this. This is frustrating since I am a firm believer in not moving on until the skills are mastered. We don’t always have time for that. Also, have you ever read “Surviving the Applewhites.” It is about a delinquent that goes to a private school full of artsy family members. (It’s one of my favorites.). I love how you make deals with students. I am inspired.

I wish that I had the energy of my 25 year old self. The passion is there. My real passion is teaching kids to read who have phonic struggles. It breaks my heart to see my 8th graders who read at a pre- primer level. I have a student who can read but can't spell. It is so interesting and frustrating to tap into the way a child takes in knowledge. Love your vids and keep pushing sis.

How many years of experience did you have prior to opening your own school? I am barely getting my bachelors in speds. My dreams is to open a little school too, but I’d like to know if I have to work at a public school to gain experience beforehand.
@CindyTheLDCoach Жыл бұрын
You don’t have to, but I suggest that you do for a year or two while you build your school. It will give you insight into why and what needs to be different for your school.

If you don’t mind can you tell me what symptoms do you use for learning and how you managed if you had to deal with Covid and home learning? Also where did you get the books from?
@CindyTheLDCoach2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I am not exactly sure what you mine by symptoms. We didn’t skip a beat with Covid. When it first happened we went online, but only 3 days a week with independent study/homework days the other two days. This past year we did a hybrid schedule. 3 days in person and two days live instruction for two hours online. I buy a lot of my books from Amazon and eBay. There are some curriculums that I use parts of and it’s much cheaper to buy used. I also use some free online curriculums. I also use homeschooling curriculum. They are much less expensive and are often as good and sometimes better. Go join my newsletter here: www.theLDcoach.com and if you go to the blog and post this and any other questions on the article titled How to Start a School, I’ll consider writing more depth articles on topics that you need more info on.

okay hi i been wondering what i was put on this earth for im telling you i been wondering for about a year. a few weeks ago i just remember someone saying it’s all in the politics or it was a dream i barely even know what that word mean. and then all of a sudden i reminiscing abt how where im from schools got shut down in 2013 we went broke the whole district the high school and middle school tore down. We split into different schools around our county. It was over 2000 kids and the way i feel im really moved you know so and I always said I wanted to be the mayor I just want to be involved some way. but no I want to bring back the schools for where I’m from. I just started wondering how the government works before I actually looked where to start. And not even 30sec in and I’m feeling really fiery inside. Lol imma Leo. Thank you so much. You are inspiring me💕this was a sign im determined now. Just wanted to share

@CindyTheLDCoach3 жыл бұрын
Lol! There are several videos on how I did just that. If you started with the one that is titled “How I started My Own School” then yes you will get my why. Sorry you didn’t appreciated that, but if you are here because you want steps to start your own school you should start with why- or else you will not get very far. Nevertheless, the videos in the playlist are clearly marked and explain a good overview of things I did to start my school. Hope that helps and good luck to you on your journey.
