How I Started My Woodworking Business | Origin Story

This is my origin story of how I came to be a woodworker and start my own woodworking business. I have never told this story this in depth but here goes!
My business is called Soul Furniture and Design. I build high end custom furniture. Tables, cabinets, bed frames, chairs, you name it!
This has been an incredible journey and I want to thank all the people who supported me along the way! Friends, family, clients, everybody has been great supporters!
I’m also very excited to start this new journey on KZbin, it’s nice to be able to share my day to day life, enjoying the fruits of my labour with my business. Working from home, spending lots of time with my wife and kids and doing what I love as a woodworking everyday. I hope this story can be an inspiration to you to maybe someday turn your hobby into a full job!
Following this video, I will start making more videos about how to find customers, tools to buy etc. and hopefully these videos will help you achieve your goals.

I know what you mean I started because it was my hobby I had all the tools before a table saw, 14-inch band saw, miter compound saw, spindle sander, 64 inches/9 inch sander, floor drill press, wood lath, shaper, jointer, thickness planer so it was easy to start a business and when everyone starts to know what you can build the order come none stopped

Excellent story and thank you for sharing! You passion is evident! One thing I suggest, keep is small. I had a marine canvas and upholstery business that started out as a hobby and grew to my full time job. I was very busy and thought I needed to lease commercial space and hire people to keep it growing. The only thing that grew was the headaches and made it quit being fun and rewarding. So I sold it as I had no passion for it anymore. My wife and I are doing furniture repurposing, refinishing and do custom builds as well as a side hustle. It has grown but will always be a side hustle even when I retire from my day job in a few years. Don't lose the passion that is very evident you have! I subscribed and I look forward to more of your videos.

Well done, be very proud of yourself and your achievements. Inspirational, I hope it helps someone else go the extra step. I am much older than you, by far and I have never done a hard days work in my life. At 67 and able to say that is quite a surprise to many who know me. When they ask how I can honestly say that I tell them, do what you love doing and it will never be work, every day will be a pleasure no matter what. I have recently taken up woodworking as a hobby in my retirement and can say my days are still fun and I look forward to it every day. Liked and subscribed, be watching you and your adventure.

@soulfurnitureanddesign I do, but my main profession is a swimming pool service. I own my own business and have a very similar feeling about expending, employees and from doing the work compared management of other people. I think thats where cnc and lasers shine in the woodworking side of things. Those assets dont take breaks and cost pennies to run compared to people.

Man, I'd love to try a table top but I'm afraid of messing it up, specifically the alignment of making the panel. How do you handle yours? Anything like dowels or dominos, or glue and clamps?

I usually just use biscuits or dominoes and glue it and clamp it! You can definitely do it!
