Good stuff. This is pretty much what I do but sometimes it can be hard to have a meal that is mostly just protein. My tip for dealing with any cravings is to just wait 15 minutes. Cravings are very short term, you can make a better decision once that 15 minutes have passed. If I still desperately want that desert/drink/carbs after 15 minutes I allow myself to have it, but this very rarely happens. It is so much easier to make the right decision after waiting a short time. Also, for training, it depends how much you travel. This advice is good if you travel a lot like Mike. If you only vacation a few weeks a year, train to a high intensity right up until you leave. That way you can do some simple deload workouts while you are away.

I have a been a personal trainer and fitness enthusiast for many years, and this is probably the best explanation I have ever seen about a great, holistic approach to maintain a fantastic physique even when traveling. Especially for such long periods of time. You live an active lifestyle, it's well planned and fitness and lifting is the foundation of your day. And yes, to remain in such great shape takes a ton of discipline, and not a lot of people are willing to put in that extra effort. Will be sharing this video with clients 100%.

This is great stuff, thanks for posting! I really like your fitness journey and super useful tips. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. Have you ever used any of these custom meal plan tools? I got one from Next Level Diet to help me build muscle and I actually like their plans. Was just wondering if you've heard of or tried any of them yourself. Thank you!

Very good value Mike, always good information from experience here on your videos. On vacation i found walking 10-20k steps is pretty easy when seeing tourist sights or exploring. I eat 1 big or huge meal in the evening so I'm not going over 2k calls. At home I track calories.

Mike, thank you so much for this calm collective video on nutrition on holiday. Whilst I may not be on holiday I have a eating disorder and this view and structured video had me feeling that I will be able to get my life back o. Track. How did it happen? By information overload by others and yet here you are always giving great information and showing the step by step approach to working out. Thank you 🙏🏽
@DanielvanBemmel2 жыл бұрын
Useful as always! Exactly my approach during a holiday. Step count is easily 20k+, focus mainly on high protein intake, get a workout in every other day first thing in the morning. Even when in a country like Italy I can totally enjoy myself all the foods, without gaining (or losing) any weight or visual muscle.
@beardmeetsworld07072 жыл бұрын
Discipline is the keyword. We all pretty much know the basics and what we should be doing but actually doing (or not doing them), whilst in the holiday vibe....that takes some discipline. Fair play Sir🙌

I only took 10 days off this summer for Greece with no training and lots of drinking and I still felt like an aboslute shlub when I got back. If I had hit the gym in the morning 3 or 4 times during, then coming back would have been a peice of cake. Mike is wise.

You actually can get a fair workout in with just bodyweight, better than nothing anyway. I had to leave unexpectedly several days ago due to my Dad being in the hospital and while I meant to take my exercise bands I forgot them. Did a bodyweight legs routine the night I got there and was actually sore for a couple days afterward lol. Not crazy sore but definitely noticeable in quads/hams/glutes. Put my boots and other stuff in my backpack and held it like a kettlebell for squats and Romanian deadlifts lol.

Good video. Two decades ago when was traveling A LOT , I realized personally the closest you ( or me or anyone) can live is if was THEIR EVERYDAY LIFE and either what or how they would do WHILE ON THEIR OWN TIME while traveling , it cuts down on the " vacation mode " aspect where a person acts with no inhibition or structure and then is REALLY CHALLENGING when their day to day life is starkly contrasting that way of life .Vacation ..good and IMPORTANT to relax and re- juvenate .. yet completely forget yourself becomes challenging when " THE PARTY'S OVER " or vacation concluded.And usually not enough TIME IN THE UNIVERSE before NEXT VACATION THEN. MIKE ( and team) your knowledge and approachability are on point . I still ( as hace had) like the no B_**S-#, way of you sharing .( I didn't fully say " Bullshit" because don't know you like that YET or this platform of information exchange .) There is plenty of healthy food in Italy, not just pizza and pasta...we eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, and the overall Mediterranean diet is considered one of the healthiest and more balanced...as a matter of fact the place is known for longevity and low percentage of obesity...Capri is very small and tailored for a certain kind of tourists, but you can find a salad bar or a poke bowl literally everywhere nowadays

went on holiday in July, came back and couldn't get my self to go back to the gym 😂even though prior i had 4 years of consistent 4-5 gym sessions a week. It's been 2 months now and I've only gotten 2 sessions in so yeah getting back into the good habits is very difficult. I do a lot of other active stuff outside of the gym though during summer so I guess it makes up for lack of training in the gym. I've never taken such a long gym break but its kind of nice to just do different things for a change.

The food is always a wonder but as you say I’ve been tracking for awhile and basically it’s second knowledge. It’s hard for me to eyeball macros but I can eyeball calorie total more or less and definitely know what to eat and not to eat what makes me bloated and what not. Gonna have to pack a whole bag just for supplements lmao. My other thing is weighing myself. Not sure how I will do that unless I just haul my scale with me
