Your comment about "Don't be mean about it, just do it again" really impacted me as someone who is always hard on themself. Your whole mentality around the sketchbook, the little messages you'd write there, the fact that you wanted to hide it for a moment, but decided to push through that and show it to us anyway was really powerful and inspiring. Thank you so much for uploading this!

I started using ink in my sketchbooks in college and never looked back after that. Ink really forces you to level up fast and I recommend it highly to everyone.

So true. If you make a mistake, you have to get creative to hide it. I've been doing nothing but ink for almost a year now. I kinda love it.

Just wanted to say that this was such a great video - definitely want to see more of your art! I recently bought a cheap journal that I've been doing ink only in as well for the exact same reason as you so it's inspiring to see how much you improved over the year. Do you have more art on other social media? Would love to follow you there as well!

Great content! I think in order to improve quickly as an artist, it helps to "let go" - not to say "don't try hard" - but I think the real progress comes with lots and lots of drawing as opposed to obsessing over every detail on every piece. Having a sense of humor over our "bad" art helps too! Great vibes here - new subscriber!

I am just learning to draw, starting with more Kawaii type stuff, drawing people intimidates me. Plus turns out wonky. But I think it is amazing you’re giving up erasing. I started with adult coloring, so I also like plants and flowers. I am also doing ‘Moriah Elizabeth’s art prompt books. But I am super eraser dependent, lol.
@eddyortegaa8 ай бұрын
To be clear there's nothing wrong with erasing! Of course I still erase too :) more of a matter of letting it be intentional rather than compulsive. I love painting plants and flowers as well , hope you're having fun

I've been struggling with being my worst critic, ive been drawimg since i was young, portraits, scenery and marvel characters were my main things to draw, now as an adult im learning to draw manga/anime characters from scratch, i should use references but dont and thats why i dislike most of my art, im not as patient as i was or focused tbh, im working on changing that now and i have created a world, lore, and 20 plus characters that i have to master, i wont give up i still have a passion...

Best thing I ever did was switch all my practice to ink only. Now my favorite medium is brush pen.
@eddyortegaa7 ай бұрын
Brush pen has been my long time fave , lately been getting into the metal nib fountain pens tho and my mind is blown
@petran50628 ай бұрын
Maybe I should challenge myself to only draw with pens, too. I know I'm not confident at drawing, I keep erasing lines, I obsess with details I don't know how to draw and then I get frustrated and angry at myself. But I'm just so afraid to commit to the pen and just draw even though I make mistakes. Thank you for the encouragement, though. I do need it.
@eddyortegaa8 ай бұрын
I can totally relate - I hope you can find ways to enjoy even the messiest marks though, at least that’s part of what helps me deal with the self-frustration It could be just a short few days or weeks of drawing by pens that helps - I believe in you ! 💪🏽
