How I Store Spare/Leftover Diamond Painting Drills

I keep my extra drills just in case a future project doesn't have enough of a color or one was left out completely from my project. I think craft minds tend to be hoarders, I know I am. If it seems reusable, it is kept because you never know when you could use it!

I feel like you are a younger version of myself lol and not in a weird way. 😅 I too suffer from anxiety, depression and OCD (mild case), so I totally understand what you mean. Keep strong girl and especially keep talking about it. I love how you are now storing your drills because I keep mine also and wondering how to organize them. I know some use the kit up containers but I think that is way over the top. Right now mine are in the bags they come in but now I think I will organize them like you just did. I saw a similar system that I have been using. Saw it on 4kidsat147. I bought photo boxes on Amazon. I also got long slender plastic utensil trays at the dollar store to put inside my boxes. I have changed things a bit but I find it works great for me. Love how you are setting up the index cards as dividers & identifiers. Awesome & good luck with your new system.

Your video made me think "outside the box" on how to store leftover drills. I like having things in order and easily accessible. A lot of my embroidery thread is stored in test tubes with screw-on lids! Looking at the box you have made, it reminded me of the boxes that store baseball, football, etc., cards. So, I bought a couple. They each have two rows. If anyone tries this, make sure you get the boxes that hold the cards vertically, i.e., standing up. Then, I found some coin envelopes that fit in it perfectly, and the envelopes are very colorful. You can get them cheaper in kraft paper, but I like color. Labeled each envelope with a pre-printed DMC label, which are easily found on Amazon or at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc. I put the diamonds in small plastic bags, labeled them and store them in the appropriate envelope. Haven't had any leftover drills (except 310) that don't fit into their appropriate envelope. Doesn't take up too much room in my closet, which is now full of my diamond painting stash.

If I may, offer a helpful tip for this specific style of organization....get stamp storage pockets (these are typically pretty cheap found on Amazon) and storing this style of organization in three colors in a stamp storage pocket will keep the shifting of diamond drills baggies under the index cards or God forbid accidentally knocking the box too strongly or even off a table....then you’re screwed for a few hours fixing an innocent mistake. The stamp pockets are amazing for storing more than just stamp sets and they also come in many different sizes.

I use this system;squares in one, rounds in another, specialty and abs in another. I dont have dividers yet but I cut up index cares small enough to fit in the baggie. I write the # and symbol for drill type (a square, circle, ab, SP) and put in each baggie. It helps the bag stand and makes it easily identifiable if its out of order or taken out. Just a hint

Hi Rachel, I’m so glad that you and Luna are still swimming. I hope you are both enjoying it. I use to take my Newfie to the lake a lot which would make him stink a bit afterward. After each trip to the lake I would rinse him really well with plain water like right out of the hose. It was amazing to see how much sand would come out of his double coat. I would then soap him up really well with a mild shampoo and then him rinse the soap out. I then followed that with a spray on leave in conditioner. I’m sorry, but I don’t remember the name of it. My Newfie passed away about 8 years ago and now I just have my horse. You probably already know this, but make sure you keep her ears clean too as they can sometimes get stinky or even get an infection. I really enjoyed the video. Take care.

Those are gonna get messed up... I use little labeled containers AND lidded stackable trays also labeled with # range. I pull all containers needed for a particular painting and put them in separate lidded tray. Nothing gets mixed up and storage is vertical!

I definitely get the comfort-in-being-alone thing. My bf just can't understand why I do best cleaning or organizing or relaxing when I'm alone. But as someone who doesn't experience that feeling it's expected for him to have a hard time understanding. 'You should be comfortable enough around me to do whatever you need to when I'm here." It's not you, though. It's me. I'm not as relaxed when I'm around other people, period. I'm still more comfortable around you than anyone else, but truly 'unclenching' and focusing on me is damn near impossible unless I'm alone, and even then it's a coin flip about whether I can 😅

As for shampoo and conditioner...I just use mine! It works when nothing else is available at the time! Never had a problem! The only time we had a skin problem was because of the food! Grain free really helps with that! Hugs and Prayers to you and Luna 💜

When you do the next the next wax test try "QuakeHold". It works like a kneeded eraser. Just squeeze off a piece and work it between your fingers and keep cramming it into the drill end and trim it off the outside of the pen and put the excess back on the block . I think one block should last for many years. I have used one filling for days. I'm sure when you have tried it you will find a better way to fill than I have. Also I noticed that Mrs. Coffee throws away her plastic pens. They work well for AB's. Try it, the wax won't pull out.

Hey Rachel! Kind of late to the party but thought I would leave a comment anyway in regards to keeping Luna smelling fresh. I have a Labrador and he has a habit of trying to roll in any muddy puddle or body of water when on walks, especially in winter. Obviously I don’t want to be bathing him all the time and I found that Wet Wipes for dogs work really well to freshen them up a bit without having to wash them completely. I’m in Australia and use the Fido’s brand Pet Bathing Wipes for Dogs but I’m sure if that brand is not available in Ireland you could find a similar product. Hope this helps :)

I like your note card storage. I think I’d use a spot of Aleen’s tack it over and over to adhere the little baggies to the cards so they’ll be removable but not slide around. Also, you could vary the placements on the cards so they’ll fit closer together and fit more in your box 😃.

To combat that dog smell on our pups we actually use baby shampoo since it's soft on sensitive skin and a big bottle is pretty cheap to buy to wash them with regularly. Plus it smells really fresh and nice of course!

Love you Rachel! You are a great cure for my anxiety and depression 😁 Thank you for all your advice. I use Nature’s Miracle Skin & Coat Freshening Spray For Dogs, Honey Sage Scent. I get it off Amazon. It’s excellent because it conditions the coat gives it shine and a great scent. I even use it between bath time I just spray it on and brush it through. Hope this helps!

You need to keep your DMC drills in one container and your diamond dotz in another.The diamond dotz have a differ numbering system !

They have sprays and wipes that help with the wet dog smell. 😊 Having Retrievers is always stinky; they are just stanky dogs, and those have been life saving without any irritated skin issues.

For dog smell, i use dawn dish soap mixed with white vinegar. It helps kill fleas and pests as well and is less expensive than the commercial pet shampoos. It has never irritated my dog's skin either.

There are many different scents. It is great for the skin and coat, not to mention wonderfully scented. We use Lavender. We use shampoo oatmeal. It works really well. Helps my four pups! :) haha. I have three huskies and a tea cup yorkie! They all love to swim! It's a pink and green bottle for dogs in the US :)

Try Moogoo shampoo, it’s great. They now do a pet range but I just use the human one on my 2 dogs. I love it as well! I can’t wait to see what new crafts you start working on, you might inspire me to try something new!

Try rinsing Luna in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, after you bathe her. Do not rinse this out. She will smell of vinegar while wet, but all smells should go away when she dries. If you don’t have white vinegar, try apple cider vinegar. Same mix. 😁 it will also make her coat shiny and feel so nice.

We take our dogs out to swim at the lake about every other day and they do end up building up nasty odor after a few sessions. 🤢 This is what helps us out: Tropiclean Deep cleaning Pet Wipes (Berry &Coconut) and Chi for dogs (deodorizing spray). We use wipes all over their fur and amazingly it takes 96% of bad smells and leaves a sweet, fruity odor. We use Chi just to top it off, it’s lives luxurious “out of hair salon” smell 🥰 I also did hear of Nature’s Specialities “ shampoo that is used by groomers, it doesn’t strip the coat of its natural oils. Hope this will help ❤️

I've seen people do this with thoes photo storage boxes some actually come with the dividers already in them. With plastic deviders to seperate the different drills. where they buy them i don't know but thought i would pass along in case later on as you add more drills you may need or want something more sturdy.

for the dog washing thing, it is bad for dogs to get washed more than every 2 weeks, but I have to wash my dog every week. So, I got the best shampoo there was at Pet Smart and I bathe her 1 a week.

Each kit is kept in a separate baggie for now... And for DD I plan to color match using my dmc color chart 😊
