Hubby & I were in a Walmart in Orlando (we’re from Atlanta) when I noticed the women staring at me. Wondered y but 🤷🏽‍♀️ it off. The third day of us going in that same Walmart, one of the women walked over to me & said “we love your hair”. What I noticed then is that no one was wearing their natural hair. I smiled & said thanks. What I really hope is that I gave them the confidence to take off the wigs & weave. I’ve never cared what others think of me, as long as I’m satisfied I’m good. I wish so many others didn’t care.

Hi Rey You are beautiful! The cut and styling is amazing! I am 58 and I did a big chop. I was really self conscious because my hair is thinner on top, and I have a large forehead. I was hiding under wigs. No more!! I found out how to style and slay my TWA!! I use my own Shea butter formulation, gorilla snot, got to be glued, and I dab activated charcoal powder on the thin spots!!! I've been doing cardio daily and eating right, fixing my house and garden, and mostly seeing myself the way our Creator sees me. I feel and look amazing! I look 39 to 40!! Heeeeeeey! 👸😘👸😘👸😘👸😘👸😘👸😘 Beauty comes from very deep within. Thank you for the inspiration.💐

I am in that same situation RIGHT NOW. I went natural not by choice due to a bad breakage and health issues I had to go natural. I too wear wigs too but it was getting costly and hot summer is here. Thanks for sharing your experience

SIS! You have 4A/4B not anywhere near 4C. It can be misleading for 4Cers to think they will achieve curl definition like that. 4C has much less wide curls.

You look amazing. I’m cutting my hair in December just to start over. A part of me is insecure about my face because I feel like my facial features are so big, especially my nose. But once I cut it, it’ll force me to fall in love with my face because I won’t be able to hide it behind my fro anymore. Right before cutting my hair, I got all my wigs ready because I thought I’d wear them the whole time til my hair grows back because my facial features are big as well and lets not talk about my nose 😩 but someway somehow, I found a way to convince myself to love me for who I am, embrace my features, my natural hair and honestly its the best feeling ever. DisIsReyRey yaaay! Thanks, that's the kinda energy I need. Alot of people have said to keep transitioning for as long as I can. Well I have been chemical free since last August, isn't that long enough? Though to be honest I wasn't "consciously" natural till about December of 2017.

Transitioning takes a long time and requires way more work. I started my transitioning process in 2013 and my hair was not fully natural until mid 2015 so two years to be exact. And I feel like transitioning also affects the growth process, as much as I would take pretty good care of my hair, it would take forever to grow 1 or 2 inches more. Plus the way your hair feels once fully transitioned is definitely different from when you do the big chop. Since I ve done the big chop I’ve noticed some new, well- defined curls, something I didnt even know I had !

I think that I will just have to calm down at least until December this year to see if my new growth gets in some way "natural". What do you think?

Its honestly up to you love, if you wanna give it a chance then its fine and yes these brands are great for natural hair even while transitioning, havent tried all of them but ive seen many great reviews.

I chopped off about 16 inches and it is shorter than yours. I got a fade and the top I left a little even though it still had some relaxer bc I hate my forehead. LOL Anyway, I had the top dyed blonde and that I needed I think so I felt I had some style. Anyway, I left the salon feeling like I left something, feeling exposed and vulnerable. I felt like you feel when you leave your purse somewhere. You know! LOL it's hard to explain. But I ended up where my hat for like 2 wks because I cut my own hair at home at first. I just hated having a relaxer and worrying all the time that I would lose my hair from over processing. If I was going to lose my hair I wanted it to be because I chose to bc watching it fall out would have been worse. So anyway, it's funny you brought up Black Panther bc after I went to the professionals at the salon we went to see the movie and I did my makeup nice and I felt so good about myself! I felt natural and beautiful. Now I have to decide when I will let it grow out (and the middle stage is the worst.LOL) but for now I feel very good about myself and I no long have to worry about my hair falling out. Thank you for this inspirational video. You make me feel like I made the right decision.

Hello, when you did your big chop, did you cut it yourself or did you go to a barbershop or a hair salon? I need to go for the big chop and like you I am so scared of the look that will come after the big chop. I still have relaxed and natural hair mixed and it is very broken and damaged. Thank you beautiful ! I cut it myself, had no idea what I was doing at first but I’m glad it ended up looking good lol Make sure to use the right scissors ! I mean it honestly depends on you I cant tell you what to do with your hair, but you can either big chop, transition or cut the ends as your hair grows. (I transitioned at first but ended up cutting all my hair 5 years later cause it wasnt growing anymore. Now my hair texture is much better and growing way faster.)
