At which point does Jim mention mind maps, stories, or mind palaces here? Just watch the video instead of reading silly "hijack" comments like this from Baku 99, to hear what Jim actually says. It's under 12 minutes - is that really too long to just watch and listen to?

Jim, I found you accidentally on You Tube but often do and actually love to take notes, so I really liked this tip! As an engineer, learner of languages, and retired bodyworker, the relatively new understanding of neural plasticity seems to me a veritable fountain of youth! Add to that the awareness that movement, new information and emotion are the very keys that lock knowledge in, and everything becomes, well, as your book pronounces, Limitless! Thank you so much for your work, and I am in awe of the many, MANY difficult years you fought learning difficulties and stimga to grow stronger and learn your own brain and body, and the sharing you have done to date that you had no way of knowing you would ever be able to do... podcasts in the 1970s? Ha! I appreciate and applaud you, Mr. Kwik- you ARE a superhero!

Now I found myself struggling with note taking, reading so I started to pray for way I can learn quicker and retrieve my information more effectively and your broadcast popped out of nowhere on my FB reels that I literally stopped what I was doing just to follow you... I'm amazed by your story and wanted to purchase your book but unfortunately I can't at the moment but I wanted to say thank you for the nuggets I can get, too get me started it's been a blessing to me that God allowed me to watch this video so I can stay focus on achieving my goals in learning and overcoming my fears in learning. Your speak gave me motivation to try something new with they way I'm learning, that I'm so excited to go to the library this summer and read more about my area of studying in school so I can be more ready for the fall...Thanks again from a happier student...

Thank you for your video, which is helpful and appreciate your kind effort to help us in our brain issues

Note taking is something that I enjoy doing, but hasn't been the most productive for me. This video and the capture create example has helped me to clarify and marry the ideas about note taking I've had in my head, and I couldn't be more excited to try it out. I'm going to apply this method to the current book I'm reading, as well as the slews of information that I will be receiving from podcasts and videos. I'm taking huge risk and huge step to take control of my life and destiny, and I'm glad to have this channel and these resources to learn from in this journey ahead. Cheers.

I'm teaching a workshop this week to my business department on "Problem Solving". I'm going to introduce this at the beginning and ask they take notes trying this format. I have a slight modification to the page setup to offer - designating a section at the bottom as a 'parking lot' to capture those random fleeting thoughts that might otherwise distract them - like I need to remember to pick up milk from the grocery store tonight. I find having a place for those things let's me put them down and move on quickly rather than giving them my attention.

Thank you so much for sharing the invaluable information Jim. Last year I listened to one of your podcasts on how to remember items/things using corresponding body parts and imagination (ie. starting from the head, the ears, the nose, ... etc). Pair an item with a body part for memory retrieval. I taught my young niece and nephew this trick and they totally got it. What was shocking is 6 months later my nephew still remembers most of the pairings. I wish your methods are implemented in today's school programs. Your teaching is truly transformational on how we can improve and maximize learning.

@Jim I bought your book while attending the “I CAN DO IT” conference in Tampa. Since your keynote there, I’ve been soaking in everything I can, and this note taking tip is one I intend to use in my work. I attend lots of meetings and often just don’t take notes, mostly because I feel I’ll just recall it, but I don’t. I have a small moleskin note book that fits in my pocket and I’ll start using the fold in that note book as the centreline, always using the left page for taking notes, and the right page for making notes. I’ll do it for the next few weeks, then at our next team peer learning exercise (something I started with my team) I will teach your method to my team. I’m actually looking forward to use it day to day. Thanks for this.

I do this studying the Bible and it's awesome. I start by taking written notes on a particular passage. Once that's done, I write down "applications". That's where I get something actionable that has meaning! This is the most fun part of note taking, at least for me. For some reason I hadn't thought about using this method for other note taking, thanks!

I lived near the University that I studied. A 20 minutes walk. Never studied or took notes. But I can say the "Explain to someone" is Ultra Effective. On the Exam's day, I used to go there 4 hours before the test. There was always another student with loads of notes. I asked to read some. If they were on the First part, I took the second. Then I started to mix an match all notes from all students. As they arrived, the buzz word "Hey, Digger is teaching the content, let's check it out!" By the time of the Exams, I've read all the content and explained all the lecture dozens of times. My test scores were pretty high, and I improved my classmates comprehension of the subject as well.
