I've just retired recently and I must say I found this video informative and great to review. These psychological concepts are much more useful for individuals attempting to avoid mistakes than I realized when I was first introduced to them. This is probably why Warren Buffett talks so much about temperament being crucial to his investing success.

I was on both ends of the spectrum, invested on my own for about 3 years, did my own fundamental and technical analysis before trading. Things got pretty tough after the pandemic and I got in touch with an investment advisor who uses artificial intelligence to predict and trade and also incorporates copy trading so that her clients' portfolios can easily reflect her trades. It's been over 2 years and I've increased a stagnant reserve from $80,000 to $700,000.

This strategy has one major flaw. It only works in ranging markets because as soon as a market trends hard in one direction, continuing to add shorts or longs to bring your break even closer just increases risk and you blow your account when it continues straight up or down.

I call this method strategy A. Once you notice a sky rocket in a specific direction, that's where fundamental analysis comes in. If you'd taken a sell and the news reflects a bullish trend, Close and Buy. Observe and either break even or be greedy and profit. The secret is lot size management.
@qbb01
@qbb01 Ай бұрын
@@ojbfalon1749 This completely violates efficient market hypothesis which states using bullish or bearish movements after a news event to predict the future price movement will not lead to outperformance of the market. In fact I remember reading about this being a losing strategy and have seen (over many years) more often than not bullish/bearish news being used as liquidity events where the market will spike in a direction that fits the news then quickly whiplashes in the opposite direction to wipe out retail money. So buying/selling on a bullish/bearish breakout will typically lose you money, on top of the money you already lost for being in the incorrect position to begin with.

good luck with: 1. Doubling in loss (Martingale). Started with 200 but at the end (breaking hedge leg) you started with 2x or 400. 2. Adding in a loss (Gambler's fallacy) 3. Nothing about actual problem - keeping on the plan (e.g. no SL adjustments etc) 4. No correlaction to Majors and Fundaments etc... however, being Painfully-Simple-Stupid (as a Strategy Named) and just willing to lose in long term - this is a perfect strategy (or risk management). thanks for fun video, nice played, appreciated! ;)

1:500 leverage and up allows you to do this, I've done this dozens of times with small and large accounts and have posted PNL, trading history, and called the trades live throughout the whole process - you just have to find a broker with high leverage, and only trade assets that have a high average pip movement in order to keep the position sizing low. You cannot do this for scalping because the sizing would be way too big, only swing trading, because the lot sizes would be smaller due to the bigger invalidation zones, thus it won't chew up the margin

9:49 Great mental gymnastics you did there. If you bought at top blue 0.1 lots, and you "hedged" by stop selling 0.1 lots at top red, you wont have a buy and a sell position opened. You would be out of the trade with a $200 loss. Now, If by hedging, you mean you sold 0.2 lots at top red, then you actually just closed the top blue buy position at a $200 loss, and now you only have 0.1 lots sold. The price immediately bounced back to the entry of top blue, which puts your stop sell "hedge" position at a loss of yet another $200, so if you close there, you are netting - $400. and if you put a stop loss further up between the grey zones, you are now risking $400 AFTER having lost $200. EDIT: all I said is invalidated if you have two accounts in which you take opposite sides for hedging.

Thanks for the comment - but I’m not interested. I would have to risk 0.5% or less trading an account with a max daily drawdown of 5-10% to get a split of a tiny net profit month to month - on top of having to follow all the rules and constraints the funding platform sets forth. My opinion - most traders, not all, but most, would probably maybe potentially be better off just saving up some of their own cash, and trading it using high risk with a simple/high win rate system. Then people can trim down the risk as the account grows. I could be wrong, what do I know. All I know is what works for me, so take this with a huge, rock hard grain of salt.

Looks pretty amazing on a first approach, but when overthinking it , this strategy is pretty much the "double your bet when you loose in roulette", right? This will work out in the long run, but with a 20% bet / risk a 5 time failure will get your account busted. And this can easily happen when you hook in the wrong moment and at the wrong timeframe. Still an inspiration, especially if this strategy is combined with some more TA and "fancy" indicators and fundamentals.

Precisely my question too. What’s your definition of “hedging” and how does that look in order entry? I got lost in what you were doing… perhaps I need to re-watch and see if a lightbulb goes on over my head. Btw, “the trend is your friend” is related to this. Trends do reverse but by definition that’s something that happens less frequently than their continuation of highs and lows. So I give what you presented here some merit. Just need to prove it for myself after understanding completely what you are suggesting. Peace! Be well. And keep smiling :-)

The unfortunate issues is that the other market are being decimated. If you want to stay green ,you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 15% and being carful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.
